A friend passed on a game called 'Spore' the other day. I had previously not heard of this game.. it reminds me of a much more complex and graphically enhanced 'Populus'; a divine blend of strategy and WoW-esque role playing. The game revolves around creating a planet; and then working your way through stages to complete the path of evolutionary life. You start out as a cell, munching bits of food in the water; before evolving to a life form; which you design entirely! Your actions (making friends with creatures/eating them) determines whether you'll become a carnivore or a herbivore, and as you progress through evolutionary stages; you get different methods of controlling your creatures/tribes/vehicles/buildings. Every building and vehicle in the game is a product of your own imagination, and it's amazing how many sculpting tools and sections/weapons/add-ons available there are. You plan your path of evolution, and end up creating a civilisation before progressing to the tribe stage. As time continues to tick and your species begins to thrive and take over OR befriend other civilisations on your planet, you're left with the objective of ruling the planet one way or another. Once that's done, the game really does go to extremes.. by letting you design your spaceship, and then taking off into and surfing the cosmos!!! From there, you can explore a vast range of planets in the galaxy and accept missions from various species; and the game continues.
The developers really have gone to town in terms of what you can do creatively. I made a magic mushroom civilisation and a psy tribe, but you can do whatever the hell you want. It's like new age Sims with much more work on the creative process; and creatures instead of humans - with the addition of space exploration too!
I'd advise everyone to check this game out at least once, it's really nice to look at (decent graphics), and quite addictive once you get into it.

In your civilisations you can create entertainment complexes, homes, factories, and line your outposts with gun turrets to defend yourself from enemies.
Vehicles you can create on the planet are a range of cars, boats and planes... all waiting to be built, modded, and coloured. Of course, when you have built your spaceship you can rocket round the planet at incredible speed.

It especially mixes well with a bit or marie warna.
    Check out, create, explore, enjoy!

great game. but i beat it in a day.

but the great thing about the game is... you never get tired of it, you can play it 1000 times and never do the same thing twice...

    :-D

I downloaded the game. I came home one evening, stoned, and discovered that the download had been completed. Installed it. And the cell world was so beautiful, that I almost started crying.

It would be cool, if you could make it so that you could stay in cell stage for ever.

I like cell stage the most :).
