yea really interesting movie my friend who like has seen this movie a bunch of times said i was like the only person he ever knew to know they were the same person like only part way into the movie interesting psychological thriller
Movie was awesome...woulda been total rad sauce if not for Brad Pitt- kinda made the movie a hypocrisy.
I agree with D Man, minus Brad Pitt it probably would have been a better movie. All in all, I feel it's sort of overrated. Chuck Palahniuk's writing doesn't translate to the screen as well as fans like myself might hope...:/
^ I thought the book translated rather well to the screen (as did Chuck himself), Jim Uhls did a great job with it. I think Brad Pitt was rather good in the role but I always did find the 'is that what a man should look like?' line kinda odd coming from him. What did you think the movie was missing?
I saw it for the first time about 6 months ago. I was over at a friend of a friends house and the boys put it on, and I'm like, oh brother. This is going to be SUCH a guy movie. And then I was like wow!!!! That movie is the shit. I went home and told my sister she had to had to, HAD to watch it. Awesome movie. And the main character was pretty hot.
I think the story line translates alright, but something is missing in the translation. It's just-Palahniuk's books are BEYOND dark and depraved, they are just so wonderfully haunting-and Fight Club is a little twisted and kind of gross, but not even close to how disgusting and disturbing all his books are... However, I think they really did the best they could have, I would have probably been disappointed no matter what. I adore both Edward Norton and Helena Bonham Carter...could they get any hotter in that movie? WOW.
Probably one of my favourite films ever. I'm not sure what I'm supposed to call that feeling I get right at the end, just as Where Is My Mind? starts playing, it's like... I dunno, like nothing really matters? That doesn't quite cover it. Yeah, I love the movie, but I adore the book.
eh, disturbing just to be disturbing doesn't interest me so much really. As much as I love Invisible Monsters, I wouldn't say his writing volume overall is something to value too much. I think in Fight Club the movie, Uhls brought out the core story and the messages enriched within from a boggled mess that Palahniuk buried it in. Maybe, as far as movies go, John Waters would fit your tastes. Now, that shit's disturbing.
Hahaha! Well, to each their own, I suppose...I do prefer the pit of darkness in Palahniuk's mind, myself... But I am going to have to agree full on with Pierate-I think that's the most important part of Palahniuk's writing, and it DID translate. Just that feeling of absolute nothing, that empty, hopeless dread. And The Pixies was the PERFECT music choice to accentuate that thoughtful moment at the end of the story. Beautiful.
but then again, you were the first person he ever showed the movie to............ and the book was way better than the movie. it was SICK!!!
Almost any movie with Edward Norton in it is going to be great. This is by far his best movie ever though. I mainly think it is because of Chuck Palahniuk is a genius (If anyone has read the book or any of his other ones.) Can't wait to see Choke when it comes out soon(Another of of his books)
invisible monsters is incredible. and so is survivor. i read his new book, snuff and it was just ridiculous. haunted is fucked up, i loved it. i need to get lullaby and diary. and choke. there's a movie coming out for that one. but yeah invisible monsters is my most favorite book by him that i have read.
Choke is good but the movie prviews didn't look so. I HATED Haunted. All of the characters sounded the same, and the story (as far as I read) was bland and goofy +_+
"Listen up, maggots. You are not special. You are not a beautiful or unique snowflake. You're the same decaying organic matter as everything else."
Definitely one of my top ten movies of all time and it is one of the few movies that I read the book after the movie and liked them equally and with the same enthusiasm. Many times, I read a book and then see the movie and I think the movie falls short.
