i want dreads... now what?

    i've got short-ish, straight, thin hair. layers on the top that i'd have to let grow out for awhile. but i really want dreads. what do i do.

    Can you really not at least click on a sticky to get barest minimum some idea of how you grow dreads?

    But uh, to sum it up, you do almost nothing.

    She was asking if she needed to do anything different.


    I would do comb twists with pure aloe vera gel. Follow the stickied washing instructions after that. Use a gentle plant-based soap that's not going to leave residue and conditioner is the enemy.

    If you want to go natural, just buy some residue-free soap like Dr.Bronners and start washing with that. Don't brush or run your fingers through your hair, even while your washing. Get a wool hat to wear when you feel like it and just let your hair grow and knot up on its own. It will take awhile but it will be worth it :)

    And separate the sections at the roots or they will become one dread. :)
