I'm not certain where I stand on the issue of "global warming" as an entirely man made thing. I certainly am against poluting the earth but here is my question about global warming. Aside from the effects of man, is it possible that what we are seeing is the final stages of "the end of the last ice age"? I mean, just because we think of the ice age as something that happened a long time ago, doesn't mean that the ice age ended allready. Think about it, we could be witnessing the final stages of the end of the ice age. I'm probably full of it on this matter but this has been an honest to goodness thought I've had for quite a while.
I've spent nearly 25 years working in air pollution control, and I'm absolutely convinced that global climate change is man-made.
How can people regard the snow to stop falling on the mountain peaks through the change back to the winter season?
Climate change is absolutely real. Last week they reported a huge shelf of Antarctica is about to fall off, again. This is happening at an alarming rate. The glaciers in Alaska are disappearing as well. Those who scoff at the "climate change is not human caused" are just snowing themselves and their hypothesis is seriously flawed. They need to open their eyes.
Have you seen Al Gore's film? The way he explains what's happening now with climate is the best explanation I ever heard about this phenomenon and also the one I most believe in. Global warming occurs periodically. Ice once recovered a huge part of the earth and then melted and will probably cover another huge part of the planet someday. We are actually living a "normal" global warming phase, but the big problem is that our irresponsible actions makes the actual global warming a lot worse than it would normaly be. That's what is dangerous at the moment... we are seriously approaching the point of no return (it's not me who says that, it's scientifically attested) because of our actions AND because of a natural periodical phenomenon. For better, clearer, more precise and complete explanations, watch An Inconvenient Truth, by Al Gore. One thing's sure: we MUST react!
Global warming does happen naturally, but not at the level that it is happening now. Warmer periods on the Earth in the past were affected by the large number of animals exhaling more carbon than the plants (which they ate) could turn back into oxygen. The temperate periods were affected by the larger amout of plant life. As plants died and turned into coal and oil, the carbon on the planet that was part of the plants was stored away there. It has been so for millions of years, taking the carbon to a safe storage where the climate will not be affected too badly by it. But we're burning millions of years worth of that storage now, releasing it all back into the atmosphere at once while killing the plants that converted it back into oxygen. It's the same cause, in a way, but on a much larger scale. Plant your garden now, kids, even if it's only a fern on the windowsill.
I wonder what blasting the space shuttle wide open all engine's rockin wide open ripping through the the atmosphere every other month. And countless rocket's as in the one's shooting up tv satelite's,telescope's,rover's,communication's, gps and countless other's constantly does for our earth.
It's fine to question if global warming in man made or natural. But you need to have some sense of natural time. I'd suggest you start walking, and count your steps. Every step is one million years. Walk 5000 steps (5 billion years) and look back at where you started. Then just kinda shake your foot a little and that represents the era of our burning fossil fuels. (if you walk at a 2 foot pace you'll have walked nearly two miles.) Look back at how far you walked and ask again if global warming is man made.
It's not a matter of black or white. Here are the facts: 1.CLIMATE CHANGE is natural. 2.If you research far enough you will find that we are suffering from either GLOBAL WARMING caused by man, or a new ice age, caused by THE SUN'S LACK OF ACTIVITY. Apparently they have also determined climate change on a couple other planets besides Earth. Did we also cause that? 3. It is harmful to any living organism (Earth) to tear up big sections of it's surface, drill huge holes into it to remove it's parts, dump a lot of toxic crap on it's body, and spew noxious fumes into the air it needs. 4.The media and the government have absolute control over what the majority of people "know" about climate change. It's called propaganda. And so, WHY do we spend so much time idly bickering about if global warming is real or not and who caused it? It really does not matter. We are simply losing focus by disagreeing. We are being played by people who would SELL us more stuff. "Green" lightbulbs, solar panels, new fangled "green" cars.... Just as long as they can keep those consumers consuming! Because anything less is going back to the "dark ages" and like so many trolls on forums will tell you, "we'll all be living in caves"....blah blah blah, as if living more closely with the earth and it's natural flow is a BAD thing! What matters the most is that we ALL need to start living and consuming differently and with more consideration for our MOTHER. If it means having to give up some "luxuries" or some of your fancy "stuff", well, hate your luck. Because we only HAVE one home. No other planets colonized yet. And the Earth and Nature ALWAYS have the final say. We are VISITORS here. Our existance is not crucial to the balance of nature. Rather just the opposite is true. Our loss of this knowledge is the BIGGEST problem facing us AND the Earth at this time. Lets face it, if the MOTHER decided to spew volcanoes, or hurricanes, or tidal waves and earthquakes, we would realize just how SMALL and useless we really are to the earth. Like the left toenail of a tiny gnat to an elephant....
