I'll be starting my first extraction soon. I bought some 1ft Echinopsis Peruviana cuttings. I got them in the mail a few weeks ago and have since learned that you want to use cutting at least four years old.... These were marketed as 3+ years, so hopefully I'm not wasting my time. Anyways, I ordered 3ft, so if their content is low perhaps quantity will make up for it. I'm planning on using the stickied tek form this forum, but I'm going to look up other teks for ph levels (which I don't think are included in the stickied post, unfortunately). From my readings, I gather that most people fail their first attempt and some seem to blame that on boiling the mix too fast at the beginning. So I know to be careful about that. Any other pointers? I have an above average chem knowledge (studied nanotechnology at uni for a while), so feel free to get as technical as you like! Wish me luck - I'd love to give my girlfriend something we've never tried for christmas!!! I'll be sure to keep everyone posted
http://www.drugs-forum.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-26757.html this is probably one of the best write ups for an a/b extraction.
Honestly man If you have never practiced this before, I would suggest using the extracted the juice. If your girl has any respect for the shaman, you guys should be happy with partaking of the huachuma. Your pics look like fucking gnarly powerful peruvians. You only need 6in to a 1ft worth of peruvian skins to get off. I would just extract the spines with scissors. extract the skins with a knife. blend the skins carefully in a blender to the half full mark at a time. boil, strain a few times and consume pure 100% pure huchuma. This will be a sure bet. To many variables are against you in the extraction. Something always goes wrong unless you have impeccable alchemical experience.
But if you do decide it is in your best interest to experiment with the procedure. The basifying Ph need be around 10. This is like 1g NaOH per 1cup juice. But since the cactus juice is so foamy and sticky 1tbsp (15g) per 150ml or 5oz of juice will minimize emulsions layers to around zero after 1hr of seperation. And if you think your gonna get clean product without defatting the fresh juice. I havent done it yet. Lots of variables.
I'm apprehensive to try the juice for the first time because of the nausea. But late last night I realized I'm going to have a day less to do this before christmas and so I'd need to rush things to perform the extraction. Rushing things is never good, so I think I might go with the juice - esp. given that you think it'd be a better idea.
the nausea will come with a decent dose of mescaline regardless, tea or extract. puking purges a lot of the nasty gunk within you. it is a part of the cactus' healing experience.with the brew its the taste you have to worry about. :cheers2:
Alright I've opted to go for the tea. My girlfriend is heaps excited so we've started the boiling this morning. It's been on about an hour and a half. For this trip I'm going to try keeping a pad and pen with me, so hopefully I'll be able to deliver an alright trip report.
I had 3 ft, but one had heaps of yellow rot (about 40% of the skin). We've blended them up with some water and lemon juice (probably about 4 - 5 L of liquid in total). That has been boiled down to 1 L and we're now drinking 400 mL each. It's verry lemony (we used 750mL of lemon juice). A few teaspoons of sugar and it's quite palatable =) Except that my stomach is churning =/
dont extract. especially when u order off the internet. u gotta do it the traditional way, and respect it. (the cacti)
Soo... 2.5 hours after drinking the tea we're still not feeling anything. I'm starting to wonder if we didn't boil it for long enough... I didn't discard the material, so I've started another boil. My girlfriend has to work tomorrow, so this sorta sucks =/
We figured that if we didn't boil it long enough then we should just boil the matter again. So we boiled up another tea for 4 hours (as long as we could given work tomorrow). It's now 2.5 hours after drinking the 2nd batch and still nothing =(
So both attempts failed, but I still have the pulp. I've put it in a container and put in the freezer. Is it worth boiling it another 12 hours and drinking the entire thing (without filtering)? It's desperate, but if there's a chance we want to take it. I'm trying to think of where I went wrong. It's probably that we used tap water instead of distilled water -- that's all I can think of. We just cut the skins up, put them in water with some lemon juice and boiled lightly - just like many recipes on the internet instruct. Or perhaps I got dud cuttings =/
If the problem is that I haven't managed to get much of the mescaline out because I haven't boiled enough then there'll be plenty left (we had three feet)
