Okay so me and a friend are wanting to organise a peaceful protest against a local animal "shelter" I have never organised a protest before and would like to know if anyone can help me out. I need to know if we need to let anyone know about the protest etc etc. If we need to have health and safety issues. I have no idea how many people will be attending as the protest is still in the pipelines and depends on how much support we get from our facebook group. If we can get 200 local people supporting us then we'll be going to our local member of parliament to address the abuse and neglect the shelter causes. It could be a while as were in our third day and we just have 19 members. Feel free to check us out: http://www.************/notifications.php#/group.php?gid=93395200334&ref=ts Any help on how to organise this will be gratefully recieved
First off you will need to get in touch with the police and inform them that you plan on having a protest. They have to okay your protest permit. They will need to know: *How many (if unsure give him an upward number. Link him to your site so he can check himself). Inform him that at this stage you cannot give a specific number. *How long They will assign a particular officer to your protest to liaise with. He will want to know whether or not your protest will remain peaceful so they know how many police to attend. Also clear with him your signs or banners also the size and material you will use in them (Like sticks or poles). He will also talk you through all the things your protest must abide with. He will be specifically there for you to talk to about things you are uncertain with regarding protesting.
Surely if it is a shelter, the best thing to do would be to volunteer your services to it and try to get it organised in a way that you would prefer to see it operating. Shelters are there for animal welfare, unless you are talking about a pound where the animals get put down. Try constructive action rather than destructive. Protest when other options are not possible. Thats my opinion anyway. Circle eace:
but maybe not animal interest? i guess the worst they could do is say "no" or "go away" though, so sure why not go for it. Circle eace:
