Thanks again for the comments guys! I still have a few Double Perc tubes I need to take some pictures of. Heh, I guess it's just a habit from the Internet dark ages One forum I used to be very active on required a pic warning if over a certian size/number so I guess I just got used to doing it when posting pic-heavy threads.
Nice collection. I have an 18" forest green label too. They're nice tubes, eh? You got a US diffy or a German one on there? I personally like the german ones better, although I havent really used the US ones much. It looks like your no-name tube is just begging for a longer downstem. Again, very nice collection.
Some of those pics looks like you took your pieces to a pro photographer w/ like the gray fabric or w/e background, which would be awesome.
Why don't you pick up a longer diffy for that straight tube? There's like two more inches of that thing that could be filled with smoke.
very nice, sir. mad props, those are all beautiful smoking devices. and word up for the lotus lighters, i got thiss one for my birthday, and i dont use anything but the torch on my bong!
It was cheap, I think it was $125 or something. It's just a FG Label US, a little thin but for the size it didn't seem too thin. That 18" Beaker, on the other hand, had an extremely thin base, wouldn't suggest getting one of those. Best to stick with the straights or bubbles with such thin tubes.
i dont really like roors that ones pretty nice though. but if they made an illadelph that size for that price i would definatly get it haha
Couple other tubes I've got, one is a 7mm (I think, definitely thicker than 5mm) Faded GonG Double Perc in 18mm. Has an Interesting perc design, kind of like an A/C inside of the tube) and the other is a Hydro/Phire 7mm Double Perc, Dome style, also in 18mm. Hope you guys like.
those phire tubes sold as hydro glass are much better quality than the actual phires are their domes flow pretty good too
i like those roors. straight tubes are stupid in my opinion. i like a lot of water to cool the smoke. and that sherlock is awesome, but it's not really a bubbler is it? damn, that is a lot of pieces. how do you decide which one to use?
The sherlock is a stemless bubbler, but can also be used as a dry obviously. When you put enough water to barely cover the bottom bend the smoke percs up through the water. Sometimes called a "Natural Perc" More water doesn't necessarily mean the smoke will be filtered or cooled better. It's all about surface area and time exposed to water. More water above the stem will increase filtering/cooling because the smoke will be exposed to the water for a longer period of time, but with Beakers and Bubbles your only adding more water horizontally, so there is no additional surface area being exposed, and no additional time exposed to the water. Other than how they look, the main advantage of beakers and bubbles is the water staying cleaner longer, not having to change water levels as often from ice drip, and the added smoke volume. Usually a bit more stable with more weight at the bottom of the tube, but base size/style comes into play there as well. The main issue I have with Beakers and Bubbles is clearing time. Straights will clear in a fraction of a second where as Bubbles and Beakers take a bit more time/effort to clear. Not a big deal but I really like a lightning fast clear. Bubbles are a good compromise though, clear quicker than Beakers with more volume than a straight. Plus I kind of like the "classic" bong look of a Bubble base. I usually use smaller Bongs or bubblers early in the day for easy going small snaps, then as the day goes on move up to bigger or double perc pieces to take those massive rips you need towards the end of a night My dry pieces are really only used for taking on the road with me, don't really want to be hitting a 2-foot tube while driving down the street. Thanks for the comments guys.
