Some of my friends and family continue to exchange gifts (and not cheap ones either) with people they have not even TALKED too in 20 years, some they don't even LIKE. What the hell? Am I missing something here? I am going to do this in my life, ridiculous. What traditions woudl you change for the better this holiday?

The tradition where we visit each other and have conversations.

Well in my family, they look at the $$ factor and can't realize i make only a certain amount of money. i come from a very materialistic family and i really care less what i have in my home just as long as my kids are fed the bills are pd rent is pd in full and i get my hrs in at work/school etc. Then they wonder why i huff and puff and blow their heads off when it comes to get togethers because i have 0 tolerance for absolute bullshit like they give out . They have not visited me in 3 years but expecxt me to visit there EVERY single year not to mention i have 2 young girls who get car sick and i live 6 hrs away. I realize its 6 hrs away, but its 6 hrs away for me to drive as well. I have driven MANY times to and from and not one single person wanted to come and visit so i put my arms up in the air and the next person who wants to have something to do w/ my life can come and visit i'm not putting up with this $$ materialistic BS
