Watching my sister eat...

i'm talking about love being an action, not just a feeling. treating your sister cruelly, even if you treat someone else just a cruelly for doing the same thing, is not a show of love. you think people differentiate shit that easily?

 

I completely agree.

But from what I read here, I dont recall she saying anything cruel that she did to her sister. Yes, she was talking in a bad way of how obese she is, but that's here. I know I say a lot of things here when Im frustrated with people and that's not how I treat them in real life.

I do remember she trying to go on walks with her and doing the groceries and buying healthier things. Maybe I need to re read the thread, it seems like I missed something.

 

If throwing away her third and fourth pack of obscenely high sodium food on occasion is cruel and unloving, and asking her if she's actually STILL hungry, and why she's eating more, then I'll continue to be cruel and unloving.

If telling her she's so unhealthy she's going to have a heart attack and die before she even has actually lived is cruel and unloving, then I'm going to continue to be cruel and unloving. Because she needs to realize that THAT is what's going to happen.

 

well, it's all you, then. just remember that tone of voice, body language, attitude and word choice says a hell of a lot more about your attitude than you think. an automatic and natural assumption, considering the way i've been talking to you, would be i don't like you. which isnt' true at all. just sayin'. take it as you wish.

It's something I wouldnt enjoy witnessing either, she's slowly killing herself. The way I see it, it's the same thing as if she was a crack addict and you watch her smoke all of the day, when you're trying to help her. I dont see how these things are any different. And ok she has an MR, but you're trying to help her, it's not like you're just making her feel bad about herself and just pointing and laughing.

I found that pretty hilarious too. I dont see how why because you're overweight affects that you're bothered by your sister's obesity. I mean if you sat around and watched tv while stuffing your face, I would call you a hypocrite. But you seem to be concerned with your physical condition and even more with your sister's, because obviously she is at higher risk of something bad happening to her.

And the whole ADD thing it's just plain ridiculous. You're a bad person because you take meth pills hahaha, seriously? I mean, yes, there are looooooots of people who are prescribed those and dont need them, but there are some who really do, maybe you fall in this last group. I mean Im very against popping pills to treat a condition and I think it's something that happens a little too much here in America, but I dont see how one thing relates to the other.

ADD is a neurological disorder diagnosed in children not adults. It shows signs as early as a year... never 18. It isn't like more psychological disorders. Taking a pill you were prescribed.... can be idiotic. If your doctor said taking heroin would make you better... would you?

You have a choice to take pills prescribed to you, be informed.

It has a lot to do with this whole thing. She thinks that her sister is a disgusting fat fuck... and somehow she lost 50lbs from a pill... no correlation just looking at what she says.

Her sister is fat because of her mom's choices and she is overweight because? HUH? I am so confused now. I make a point out at her being rude and mean to her MR sister.... and somehow I make no sense?

She is making a great model for her sister to follow. Let me drink, take pills.... oh wait did I mention I work out spending $500 a year on a membership and eat healthy. That to me seems so hypocritical. She wants her sister to change her lifestyle and yet she leads such a great example.

I still don't get why you don't take her to the gym with you (you must get guest passes; right) or take her hiking, or cook a healthy meal together. She must feel really alone and needs you to be helpful.

 

she's a mentally handicapped child with no social life, an enabler in the highest position of trust, a sister who loves her but has little to no respect for her and abuse in school. capped off with the fact that disabled people are twice as likely as anyone else to be abused physically, sexually and verbally. no wonder she clings to the only high she gets. this is a classic addiction case. unless you're will to report your mother to the authorities and seek assistance, all you're gonna get is more chances to play the martyr. "I'M the mean one, I'M the one getting ill watching it, I'M the only one who cares."

I also understand it is proboly VERY hard for you to have a sister with a disability and there has to be some resentment there for you.
I am osrry you were delat those cards, but it seems like you can be someone that can help her a lot. If you're the only one in your family working out-take her! You work at a resturaunt; rgiht? Bring home your healthier items.
And teach her how to cook-for reals. I haven't met one person with MR that doesn't LOVE cooking.

 

but if she's 5 mentally it makes no difference in my never to be humble opinion . I just got home from working with spec ed students today and all they think about is food for the most part. It needs to be seriously controlled and they need people to help them develop self-efficacy.

It might sound insensitive, and to be honest I have little exposure with the mentally handicapped, but I still think a person needs to learn how to survive. I guess I'm somewhat of a darwinist.
