Hey guys, I'm sure this movie has been brought up in the past, but through searches I only found one thread about it in the movie section with one reply. So reintroducing the same topic and fitting this thread to a more appreciating audience I recently watched this movie with very low expectations. Let's face it, any other approach and I would have been disappointed. Or at least I thought! The movie was not all that bad, and surprisingly decent. It's well done, and was entertaining to watch. I was impressed with the colorful cast of random people with dreads on the movie. So many unique individuals with different personalities sporting dreads for different reasons. It had stories of why people chose to go natty, and their experiences with dreads. Not to mention the constant dread head after dread head popping on the screen - who are the ones giving you their 2cents a decent amount of the time. It's a documentary type deal that covers a "subculture of dreadheads" and yes, I played with the words. It focuses on the crowd chasing after bands touring who at the same time are dreadheads. It does not really tackle it from other perspectives. Which I did not mind all too much. Though I definitely think it's a Must watch if the above sounds interesting !!
Here's the trailer: http://video.google.com/videosearch...it of a subculture&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wv# The whole thing must be somewhere online...
oh crazy. ive seen posters of that at the mercury cafe in denver, as well as the common grounds down there. and at a head shop called mellow yellow up in fort collins
:icon_bs: nah seriously, do you find it derogatory/offensive? If so, explain. EDIT: not to double post and reason for editing - Hell to the yeah-yaa mellow yellow is what's up here in fo co. Along with kind creations and rockin' robins who are all next door head shop neighbors. Glad to see a familiar head shop name pop up heh.
Well, you're sort of right. I didn't mean to come off as an asshole, just haven't had anyone in my life recently tell me my opinion was BS... Nor do I accept that kind of behaviour IRL, so why online?
Another witty way of describing a man or woman that has/had knotted and locked hair. Nothing more, and nothing less. Sorry if I came off as harsh. But I stand by my case, and I can understand yours.
well they say subculture, i don't think having locks fits you into some kind of subculture, at least not the one that the movie is describing.
hate to be a dick, but I'm re-directing you to my very first post onto a certain sentence. As in, a sub-category of "dreadheads". I agree 100% that the subculture they are portraying is not the case for every one with dreadlocks. but nevertheless, a group of dreadheads fall into this subculture. I probably should have clarified that. with that, pm me your concerns. We've gone off topic(ish), and I would like to re-steer this thread back to where it was.
Ok, back to on topic: Did you find the people in this movie to be relatable, unique, and/or sincere or did they (or some of them) come off as phony, predictable (aka stereotypical), and/or Trustafarian-ish?
