I have a chiuahua that is about 6 years old or so, and I think he is going blind. When I look at him, even in the smallest amount of light, I see alittle cloudy looking circle in his eye. does this sound like he could be going blind, or do you think it might be how the light catches his eye? I have looked on the internet, but I cant really find much. Thanks for the help! Crazy
He's getting cataracts. It's a protein(I think) build up in the eye. Eventually, he'll go blind. Don't worry about it, he's not even close to being old, and he'll probably have his eyesight for a long while before he goes fully blind.
It does sound like cataracts. The vet I use diagnosed them in one of my dogs four years ago and he still has sight. backtothelab is right, there is probably nothing to worry about. Still, it's probably worth a trip to your own vet to ease your mind.
I have a chihuahua, and my dog get's something similar. It freaked me out at first, because I thought something was wrong with his eye (cateracts, mainly). Then I realized it was just dust or something. Chihuahua eyes stick out of their head pretty far, they don't really have a brow or anything, so they don't have anything to protect their eyes from dust or hair or anything. Eventually my chihuahua blinks it out, and it bacomes that eye goo that chihuahua's often get. But if it is something that is not going away, definitely have a vet check it out.
