Hey guys, I'm a psych major and live a bit North of Boston. I commute to school. I'm going to apologize in advance for making this one of my first few posts... I'm sure I'll stick around on the forum depending how active it is. Anyway, I have this friend SWIM. Him and I know not to talk about illegal things on forums. SWIM is not an officer of the law. SWIM has a terminally ill father who cannot digest food or drink water anymore. The only medication SWIM's father can get is through TPN(nutrion through a tube) and pain medication that is far stronger than morphine. It gives him odd spells and makes him speak senselessly on a daily basis. SWIM knows a thing or two about certain drugs and their effects on cancer patients. SWIM's father isn't too social anymore and there are a lot of people who would like to see him before he passes away... but he is too negative about everything and gets very irritated with people due to the stress. SWIM thinks that if I post on this forum and ask around, maybe some one can shine their wisdom and resources on the subject. Since apparently there isn't/I can't figure out a way to send private messages on this. SWIM would like it if you contacted me for any direction. I don't want to put my email on the internet, but my AIM address is Just Tekron. please, if any one of you can lead SWIM in any direction or just want to talk freely with me, contact me!
You're right - it will take wisdom to answer your question. My mom was on pain killers before she died. Had halucinations and accused my dad of all sorts of bad things - Dad was the kindest man I ever knew. His answer was that he loved her no matter what she said or how she treated him. He just kept on. I'm afraid swims dad will probably not be more socialible and the only way people are going to be able to see him is just to deal with it. He probably won't remember them being there in 15 minutes anyway. Realize that the real person is buried deep under the pain and drugs and love him.I don't know why the process of death is so often cruel. Wish SWIM luck and love from me.
thanks for your reply! whenever swim goes into his room(living room, actually, stairs are pretty beyond him at this point) he often says rude things and makes SWIM feel really bad, though SWIM knows he does not mean the things he says. SWIM is learning about mood lifting drugs such as MDMA, LSD and Prozac.SWIM studies psychology, chemistry, and sociology all the time.... in and out of school. SWIM thinks MDMA would really change his father because of articles and videos he has seen. SWIMs father has had a lot of experience with marijuana and psilocybin etc. SWIMs father was also a police officer for a long time.
eace:I don't know about any of that stuff. I will make 1 more suggestion. With my dad - before he died he got very depressed. He slept all the time and could not interact with us. Finally they put him in the hospital for a few days for observation and evaluation and prescribed him (believe it or not) ritilin - like for a.d.d. After that he was back to his old self pretty much - at least mentally. I don't know about SWIM's case but it worked for my dad. He died a couple of months later but we did have some good conversations before he did. Good Luck and Peace PS: I have tried LSD and psilicybin etc. and I don't know if you would want to chance it on a dying man. Prozac, yes, I'm surprised he doesn't already take something like that. It could make a difference.
SWIMs father has already been on methamphetamines for about 2 years now, that's when he started his cancer treatment. SWIM would not want want his father to take any mushrooms or LSD, SWIM doesn't believe those would help his situation, especially the psilocybin. SWIM thinks the mood benefits are the only thing that his father needs, not the hallucinations and whatnot that come with LSD. SWIMs mother I believe is on prozac but I don't believe they've given that to him. I'm sorry about your father, but I'm glad you were able to have some good conversation with him before he went. SWIM had some good conversation with him before his father was released from the hospital, however as things have intensified his father is unable to talk to him in a reasonable manner and a good state of mind.
