I started going out with this girl about a month ago, we started kissing before we were technically going out, so were both really comfortable with each other. If you do not feel comfortable enough to ask her, then I would question if you really should be dating. Just ask first before you act and then she might explain herself. Honestly though just ask her it is not a big deal even if you think it is. And if she is on her period she will have no problem telling you. It almost sounds like you mean a "let's sit down and have a talk" sort of thing ..... although that does have it's place. What I meant about communicating is while you're exploring each other's bodies. Things like, "ooh, that's good" or "slower" or "faster" or "harder please" or "I'm so sensitive there" or .... well, I hope you get the idea.
