Why is there so little outcry about the Bush royal family? There used to be a lot of criticism about the Kennedys being royalty and how it went against the grain of the founding fathers to mix royalty with politics. Why no outrage over the potential to have many more years of the Bush family, including Jeb? (especially the lack of any outcry from the right which seemed to be so against it years ago)

America's disdain for royalty decades ago seems to have evaporated.

They ain't Royalty, Shaggie. They's Texans. Their motto, since they took Texas from Mexico, has been: "Since we can't do it clean and legal like... We'll do it dirty and illegal."

I mean we're talking about the good ole U. S. of A. here, Shaggie. We're a nation that was settled by religious zealots, indentured servants, folks who couldn't make a go of it in their own homelands and runaway criminals.

Yeah, Royalty. Like a man who made his fortune and gained respect through bootleggin' liquor could be considered royalty. It's funny what the words of people who make their living selling papers can convince one of, eh?

Let's not forget the media. The major media outlets are owned by Republican neoconservative billionaires, and always has been. JFK was a Democrat, thats why they went after his money.

I use the term royalty in a loose sense. I consider today's CEOs royalty, considering that their salaries are something like 300 times the average salary.

I find it troubling that people today seem fairly comfortable with the idea of the melding of religion with political policy and with the general acceptance of family royalty in the White House. People's acceptance of it is even more disturbing than the royalty itself. This wasn't embraced by those who wrote the Constitution. They were clearly suspicious of a single group gaining control of the people and had a disdain for royalty (no title of nobility granted in the U.S.; that's explicit in the Constitution)

A lot has changed in the U.S. in the past 25 years.

You got that right! But, as much as it pains me to say this; "It's not my job to pull people's heads out of their asses."

And besides, people don't want their heads pulled out of their asses; it's warm in there, cozy, and, after a while, you get used to the stench - it ain't so bad.

You pull their heads out of their asses and they wander around saying "Why didn't I take the blue pill?"

In 1920s Germany, it was a hope that the Nazis could make the German people's lot in life better that the people hung their hats on. In 2004 U.S.A., it's just stupidity.

It's from the movie The Matrix. One of the characters offers the choice of the Pink pill and the Blue pill to another character. The Pink pill shows you how things REALLY are. The Blue pill lets you go on believing what THEY want you to believe about how things really are. Later in the movie another character laments "Why didn't I take the Blue pill." Reality can be harsh, y'know.

    Pullllll...puuuuuuulllllll.....PLOP!

    there ya go...feel better? :X
