My roommate got lice. now of course, I have it too. and being in a dorm, this stuff needs to get out of my hair, now. I know I should use a lice comb, but I don't know what else to be doing, besides washing my clothes, sheets, and stuffed animals. yes, I have stuffed animals, they rock. What should I use to kill them? I don't exactly want to use chemical ridden shampoos. I heard that lice can survive through 2 consecutive hair washes. should I take a shower and wash my hair 5 times? I've never gotten lice, so I have no clue what to do. What did YOU do when you got it? I need to know the way you did it. I don't think the olive oil/petroleum jelly method is gonna fly with me. I want to know what you personally did to get rid of them.
You have to wash your hair with lice shampoo.(RID)then comb out your hair.Put your pillows and stuffed animals in the clothes dryer, that will kill the lil bastards.Good luck!!
Yeah, do what lilbear said. You could also use tea tree oil if you want a more natural approach, although I found that it better and faster to get some proper lice shampoo. Make sure your roommate treats their hair too otherwise you could catch them back
been there and done that... it is no fun at all! i had a roomate, who brought home a case of the crabs and, gave it to the rest of us. we told her that the next time she did that, she was dog meat! use the RID shampoo and the comb that comes with it in the package. it is far more effective if you put all clothing in the oven and cook them. SUPERVISE THE COOKING DURING THE WHOLE PROCESS... THE CLOTHING MIGHT START ON FIRE! try the dryer first, set it on high heat. if the dryer does not work then, you will have to use the oven. tea tree oil is hit and miss with lice. you can give it a try though; if it does not work then, you will need to use the RID. you can also shave off all hair on your body and pluck out your eye lashes too just, like they did in the 18th. century. I MOST STRONGLY RECOMMEND AGANIST DOING THAT THOUGH!
I went through the kid catching it, treating our house but dad not treating his, so he'd get them back to our house. I combed out all our hair with a nit comb and vinegar (loosens the "glue" on the nits) then slathered our hair with oil and a covered with a plastic bag. All blankets and pillows and stuffed anything that was not needed and in use went in a garbage bag and left in the sun for two weeks. (brought onto porch at night. Rented a carpet cleaner and used lots of hot water. I repeated the comb-and smother-one more time about 10 days later, as that would have been the earliest possible hatch of missed nits. Took two runs once the source (dad's place) was treated.
wash your hair with lice killing shampoo, then while your hair is still wet put like a jar of mayonaise all through your hair so that your hair is pretty much completely covered, then cover it with a shower cap. sleep with it like that overnight. when you get up, wash your hair again with lice killing shampoo (don't want to have rotten mayonaise in your hair!). this should kill most of the lice and leave your hair soft and shiny soak your hairbrush in VERY hot water, and wash and dry all the clothes you can on hot water. dry them on high heat (not the things you don't want to shrink). wash all your bed sheets on hot water. get lice killing powder for your bed and couches/chairs. bag up cushions, stuffed animals, pillows, and any clothes/sheets you aren't going to wear/use in plastic garbage bags very tightly. good luck.
FUCK! I was coming my hair (in criss-cross position) and I found a louse on my foot How many times do you have to wash your goddamn hair with this stuff? hm maybe I need to toally smother my hair in this stuff... I've mainly been putting the shampoo in from my scalp, going about five inches from it. I got long hair, that's another sucky thing. and, it's really thick. took me forever to comb out some nits... only got about 20-40 nits or so... I guess I have to do this every week for a month. it's just annoying, I got so much damn hair, it would take a while to get all of the nits out.
If I ever got those lil fuckers,I would leave that shampoo in my hair until my scalp burnt like hell.
it says to leave it in for only 10 minutes... I'm guessing I'd get some wierd chemical reaction and my hair would start falling out.... and I fucking love my hair tyvm if that weren't the case I'd definatley do the same
Rid: apply liquid undiluted to all infested areas untirely wet, wait 10 minutes, then wash thoroughly with soap and water. Do not exceed 2 applications in 24 hours. Repeat in 7-10 days. You must look for them in the seams of clothing. If the infestation is widespread, wash all clothing and bedding with a strong detergent in hot water and dust the area with Lindane powder. Fog your car.
I went the natural way once...a homemade mixture of teatree oil, olive oil, rosemary, eucalyptus oil, and lavender... soaked the hair and left it under a bandanna for a day or so and then combed out. It killed everything but it also made something like 20% of my hair fall out. I am now in love with the nice chemical over the counter lice shampoos. Make sure to vacuum any furniture (couches, etc)
oh, that stinks. I do have twice as much hair as the average person, though. haha I'm in a dorm room so I put all of my bedding in a dryer
try Delacet, it's natural and it works. I have dreadlocks so I can't comb my hair, and chemical shampoos didn't work, then the Delacet did!! hurray after 4 weeks of lice.... I bought it off E-bay, it's not in stores here in Holland..
Some lice are becoming resistant to the poisons in the insecticidal shampoos. Getting rid of super lice is getting more and more difficult.
