As one of the best holidays draws closer, I started thinking about costumes. How many people like to make their own Haloween costumes? What do you plan on dressing up as this year?

I have no clue what I am going to be this year. I have a while to think about it though since I only need 1 or 2 costumes this year instead of 31. :D

what i hope to do, and may not get time for, is to make a costume based on the fool card from the major arcana of the rider-waite-smith deck for myself, and a white dog costume for shakti. (in this card the fool has a white dog leaping around his feet.)

my son wants to be a fireman, and already has the costume in his dress-up box. but he's asked me to finish his greenman costume anyway. i don't know if i'll have time for that or not.

one year i made a hobbit costume for damien. this was the fall before the movies came out; i think he was about 3. the costume was complete with a glow-in-the-dark "sting", a brass "ring of doom" from the findings bin at a local craft store, and fuzzy hobbit "feet" that tied over his sneakers. the photo's in my gallery, & i posted it in random thoughts earlier today.

I am not sure what I am going to be this year. I wanted to show you guys a costume I made for myself a couple of halloweens ago. I am strawberry shortcake [IMG] It was fairly easy to make if you can sew.

When you get your costumes all made you have to show us pictures!!

i went as frank from rocky horror one year and my sister was columbia. we completely put together the costumes ourselves. (strangely enough i just happened to have a lot of the supplies lying around....) it was fucking awesome. i had a picture at one point, i'll try to find it. i did the curly black hair, red lipstick, thigh high fishnets with a clippy little garter belt....everything! that was my best costume ever. last year i was a fairy, but it was just a flowy white dress and some store bought wings. not sure what i'll do this year....

I'm thinkin I'm gonna be a tie-dyed fairy. I've got a stick that I'll make a wand out of, and I'm gonna tie tie a bunch of t-shirts, and cut them into strips and put them over a tule skirt, and then tie dye another t-shirt and cut it cute and sexy for a top.

I still have to figure out how to make wings, if anyone has any tips let me know.

I just got this job teaching pre-school, and I realized that I now have a place to wear a costume all day long, I'm sooooo excited!

I'm a witch this year... I found a pointed hat with a wig attached to it, which is good because I don't have long hair.

I just have to find a black dress that I can make a little funky and some knee socks... I already have some cute shoes...

I'm thinking about being a dark faerie. I have a cute black faerie cut skirt and a fake black corset cut shirt (though I might buy a real one). I still need to buy wings though, but I want some really out there ones. My shoes are going to be black ballet slippers that tie up my leg. Then to top it all of I'm going to have a long curly hair wig that goes down to my belly button. Oh, and I still have to buy a black pacifire (thats for something I'll be doing :p)

    wow, lots of fairies!

I've changed my mind and am now going to be a gypsy, it's just too hard at work to move with wings I think, and too many little arms tugging them would be bad, lol. I'm gonna layer some flowy skirts and wear bangle braclets and bunches of bells, and some scarves for my hair, should be quite fun :)

Another idea that I'm not going to use this year would be to go as Isadora Duncan. She was a silent film star who was famous for wearing scarves and throwing them over her shoulder dramaticly, until one day she had gotten into a car (the real old ones, with spoked wheels and all) and she threw her scarf over shoulder and it caught in the wheel, and when the car drove of she was strangled to death. So I figure you could wear a flapper dress, and a scarf tight around your neck and white makeup with blood around the neck.

You would prolbably have to spend the whole night explaining it, but it would be a fun costume I think, and any excuse to wear a flapper dress is a good one!
