Well it helps if you go to a gay bar or club that way you know for sure that the lady is a lesbian. Just be yourself, talk to people if you see someone you think is cute (and shes alone of course) buy her a drink. Congrats in your new experience and good luck
I disagree, I know a lot of straight people who go to gay bars, but most of them are open enough to not be offended to be hit on, they just politely tell them they're straight. So it isn't 100%, but you know, they won't likely be hurtful if they're not a lesbian.
