I miss the ghetto

this one bum has a sign that says "I lost everything" or something, and he's always sleeping, and it brings a tear to my eye. I'm not sure why. but yeah Aura, some of the best conversations I've ever had have been with bums. they are a good time.

Isn't it weird some of the most 'liberal' places are sometimes the most racist. I'm also thinking Boston and San Francisco.

But I agree with the manufacturing bit 100%. From what I've read, the black middle-class in this country actually started to rise during the New Deal; and the manufacturing jobs available to them during WWII.

That's before Civil Rights, and all. It's remarkable---. But I think men in general suffered with the transition to services, whereas women gained in social mobility. Don't you think?

It seems men are either filthy rich, or scrapping by nowadays. OR, they got a hold of the few unionized jobs still left. Usually, city jobs--- sanitation and whatnot.

 

really, you guys like the bum stories? you realize it's all complete bullshit that isn't usually even believable, just so they can get you to give them money... which they will steal from you if you give them a chance...

i know not every bum is like that, but well over half that i've spoken to.



and i don't know what you guys are talking about with black girls liking white guys. i've never experienced such absolute unfounded hatred as when i had to occasionally talk to black girls at work (and they were always with black guys too). which is especially weird, because black women over about 35 are probably the very nicest, most caring group i've ever come across. i'm not sure what happens to them in their 30s...

 

That goes for all women, I think.

Women in their 20s are just hard to deal with, period. I don't care what race they are...

I dont mean their stories about why they are in the street. Im not talking about those kind of bums, but more the guy who starts rambling about how he took some mushrooms this morning and had altered all of his clothes and it's a real fan of vanilla ice cream, vanilla bean when he wants to give himself a treat.

Or the one guy, who decides to sit down talk about god, the universe, life, human nature.

Or the one guy who decides to sit down and talk about his travels or some of the crazy things he has street or a cop story or whatever.

There's all kinds of crappy people and all kinds of people who lie. Im not idealizing bum. Im just saying a lot of them have a lot of life experience which makes them interesting and/or wise.

nah, white women are cool when they're young. then they turn into conservative racist bitches when they start raising their precious families. whereas black girls are conservative racist bitches when they're young, but they then become extremely cool when they hit middle age.

I think you are dead on about the economy, and I have gotten in a few arguments in the past with people thinking we were doing a good thing "converting to an information economy" while I firmly believe that a country needs those manufacturing jobs as they employ tons of people at all different levels and job types

 

eh, i don't think those bums live around here.

i've talked to a couple like those you're describing up in cleveland, but around here they're pretty much all just broken alcoholics.

 

not to mention how fucking hilarious most of them are.

mmm, i guess that could be it, although from what i've seen most of them don't really seem to care, unless they are of the ghetto white girl variety, in which case they only like black guys.

 

I met my share of amazing African and West Indian women in college.

I tend to get along with Hatian women best of all, from all the different variety of black women.

Had a married Hatian nurse I used to see out in Brooklyn. Yikes!
