there won't be any things faster than light made by human for loooong time
and even if created past can not be visited again, i thought time machine could be made, but my physics teacher put me in reality: if time machine will be created, why are there no visitors from future?

someone said something about einstein theory: if one man would stay on earth and the other man would start travelling with speed of light, man on earth would get older, traveller would not get older nor even for a second.

oh and one more thing, travelling faster than light wouldn't take us to past, but maybe it would show us what will happen in the future

The reason Einstein says nothing can accelerate to the speed of light is because in order to do so would require infinite energy. The faster a mass goes the more mass it has. The more mass it has the more energy is required to increase its velocity. This leads to a vicious circle akin to a perpetual motion machine.

An interesting affect of trying this is that the faster a mass gets the mass also loses time and distance. If it were possible to accelerate to the speed of light the mass would continue to gain mass until it was infinitely massive but would continually lose time and distance until neither of these dimensions existed. Thus it would take no time to go anywhere because anywhere would be infinitely close. In essence instantaneous. That could explain quantum entanglement.

He may have never said anything about anything that was all ready going faster than the speed of light but the mathematical formulas do. They show that anything that is faster than the speed of light ends up with an imaginary rest mass (the root of a negative number). This could be shown to simply just being out of phase with a object with a real mass, much the same as resistance and reactance are in electronics. They are both real but they are out of phase and the complex vector these two units form is called impedance.

Nothing moves faster than light speed

There is a show on the History Chanel called The Universe. It is on season 3 right now, and I didn't see it, but the newest episode is called Light Speed. This is from wikipedia

"According to the laws of physics we can never travel faster than the speed of light...or can we? Light speed allows us to see things instantly here on Earth, and shows us the entire history of the universe going back nearly 14 billion years. Learn all about light speed, the ultimate constant in the universe and discover ways scientists envision breaking the "light barrier" which may be the only way the star travel of our imaginations ever comes to reality. "

    Did anyone see this episode?

Edit: I just looked and this episode comes out today. I will watch it and see what the worlds leading theoretical physicists have to say about faster than light.

I think i was told that the speed of an electron is very slightly greater than the speed of light.

Ok lets straigten this one out. With conventional relativity it is not possible to travel faster than the speed of light. No massive particle can reach the speed of light as it would require infinite energy. In contrast a massless particle (photons) are required to travel at the speed of light.

Of course this presents a large problem for hopes of interstellar travel. With conventional physics this appears to be a fundamental physics. Every experiment so far performed confirms the results of relativity. It is not easy to see how faster then light travel can appear out of physics as it stands now. That isn't to say its not possible, but I think its fair to say that nature really dosen't like the idea of us doing it.
