So I've been germinating some seeds over the past few days. After about 4 days I have managed to successfully get sprouts on 16 seeds and there are a few seeds that look like they may be on their way in the next few hours!

In the pics, the batch of seeds on the left is the seeds that are still germinating and the smaller population on the right are seeds that have sprouted and are ready for planting.

I'm going to start by putting them in two pots for a week or so and see how they do from there. Once I can establish which of my plants will be healthiest I will then buy larger pots for those selected. Is that a good idea?

I also want to suggest everyone check out this website. Let me know how truthful it is. I feel that it's chock full of stuff for us beginners to grow.

Be sure you wash your hands with alcohol , soap and water when picking them up for placements with your fingers.

While there is no real proof that you can contaminate them with germs, its best to take the precautions when planting sprouts..

And you are sorta out of season, unless you are growing indoors.

    Do you have any lights?

Yes I am growing indoors. As far as lighting is concerned the germinating seeds sat on top of the fish tank with the bright hot lights. I'm now going to put the pots inside another fish tank and put some lights in it until they really start growing.

What step should I take once I have an ok sized plant? Around 2 inches or so?

I've seen stranger things happen, my buddy and I decided to throw some seeds in a wet paper towel to see if they would germinate at his apartment at school. Then a month or so later when I came back to visit he's like "oh you're not gonna believe this shit" sure enough there was a 2 foot tall pot plant growing in a bucket in his room just under florecent dorm lights about 5 feet from the top of the plant. I mean sure the plant was extremely thin and tall because the lights were so far away but it still grew none the less. He never had the chance to bring it to flower though because he had no where's to do it safely as we thought the plant would never grow in the first place.

This is possible.. considering most fish tank lights are florescents. Not that it would be a considerably healthy plant.. But it might live..

If you want this to actually work, I'd suggest you pick up several compact FLs and read up on lighting.

hey guys CHILL>. the fish tank can grow a awesome HOMEBud. but nothing super unless you add more light..
Compact lighting for fishtanks often meets the needs for small plants thats are not aquatic..
As long as the timing is correct and the plant gets uninterrupted darkness during both veg/flow cycles it will be fine.. A HOBBY plant. :)

    Fish tanks are great cloning..

takes cutting oxygenate a low layer of water and fish stone 3 to 4 inches deep..
Place chicken wire over water pool and suspend it, Bending the wire to hold itself up.
take cutting place through wire, into water pool... when rooted remove and plant..
    Learn more about cloning :)

people forget that this stuff grows in the wild.. without expensive lighting and people to tend to it every waking hour.

if you're not going to read up on stuff though, and do everything perfectly to a T, you might want to use more seeds to increase the chances of at least one plant surviving. i wouldn't expect your buds to be top notch either, but chances are you'll come out with SOMETHING.

My friend grew 2 plants with some bag seed from this shitty looking bud that was full of seeds. This was the result. He just read lots and watched a few vids.

At the moment he has 1 Kush plant vegging and it has been vegging quite some time. Currently it is about a foot and a half. By the time this thing is done flowering it's gonna be a bush. He had 2 jack herers on the go but they both turned out to be male so he cut em down.

I'm not trying to produce any huge crop here. I'm just doing a little trial and error and bullshitting around really! Like, it really is just a hobby. Something to keep me interested, that's all really. I am learning a lot more about growing actually. For example, at least I'm germinating this time. I really don't want to go all out and achieve the best bud ever, i just want to see if I can get something smokeable. Trust me, I really don't care about growing anything special, just goofing off really.
