I'm not meaning to offend anyone or put down this religion, but to me it doesn't seem too different than a cult (also, not pointing cults out as the evil people) I mean, you've got a leader preaching and shouting (sometimes) in front of these huge crowds, telling about the evils and what you've got to do to save your soul. I do realize that this isn't every Christian, as I really do enjoy going to church and I love the sense of love and community there. This is based on the religious channels where there'a a lady walking around on a stage shouting about the evils of the devil. I was watching it the other day, and it really reminded me of this
The legal definition of a cult is a religion with fewer than 10,000 members or so (not sure on the exact number). So no, Christianity itself is not a cult, but there are sects within Christianity that may be considered a cult. But keep in mind there are cults in every religion (yes, even in Buddhism).
Thanks for clearing that up.. what I was trying to say was that that show reminded me of what might happen in a cult
I'm against religion. Each Christian religion twists the meaning of the bible to suit their own causes. So that is almost as bad as a cult IMO. I say, read the bible and make up your own mind. You'll know just as much as anyone else unless they've been around for 2000 years.
I love that idea. I totally believe that Jesus was a real guy, and that he was very.. enlightened. But I don't think that he was the son of God, here to save humanity
go to christianburner.com Read kiss hank's ass. Very good site. Christians wouldnt be so bad if they were not so close minded.
Pretty much the only reason I hate Christianity is because it is threatening to destroy whatever democracy and freedom we have left in this country. The war with Christianity and Judaism vs Islam will most likely end cvilization as we know it. I don't hate followers of these religions, only the fundementalist ones. They need to grow the fuck up and stop being so intolerant of people who don't follow the same religion as theirs'.
That's funny they said wigglin around on the floor-(that was cute- i liked that...but they roll scream cry all of that...) me- on Christians or some Christians at least. I agree with the statement that all oraganized religions are cults...but who is to say a cult is bad- it is connotated as bad- and maybe most are...I am agree that and know that there is a strong force of weak minded people- not just in Christianity but other religions that believe every word and statement without thought or question.
from what I learnt on history the bible isn't the bible as its been changed beyond the point of going back to suit who ever; mainly the blitish kings and queens {and that wasn't a typo I heard it on it aint half hot mum lol}. has anyone heard billy connelly the crucifixion?; to me he could be just as right as anyone on the origins of it all
I'm against religion. Each Christian religion twists the meaning of the bible to suit their own causes. -[ quote if the thingy doesnt work.] this isnt true, the meaning of the bible is not twisted! if the focuse of the christian is on jesus, then they will have the same things in there heart as the next christian. everyone has diffrent lifestyles, and evryone will understand the bible in there own personal way because everyone is difrent, but this does not meanthat the meaning has been twisted! what ever diffrencees ppl have they will have to react to the bible acording to this, that doesnt say anything about the meaning. i cant say that i know what a cult is. but i know that whether you belive it or not christianity is a life dependent and life changing thing to be apart of. a cult would not have sutch a drastic turn around on your life that christianity can. there doesnt seem to be any christain defending what you are saying. [witch seems to me to be the proff of not knowing realy what chritians are about] so if anyone wants to ask questions..............i know about it!
I admit I'm not an expert but I don't believe that people react to the bible in their own way - if they are in an organised religion they will subscribe to that religion's interpretation of the bible. That's why they are in that religion in the first place. Once we had a Catholic priest visit our house. He had this list of religions and said that people who follow those religions won't go to heaven. Who are they to make judgements like that.
I think this is the main problem of christianity. Priests "teach" you how to interpret Bible as if they are somehow closer to the trouth than anyone else. The best example is the "interpretation" of holy commandments. I remember back in elementary school when I had cathekism (If that is what it is called in english), the nun toled us whole stories about each commandment. Such as that one about celebrating the lords day or whatever, she said that it means to go to church every sunday. I mean what nonsense is that. It is brainwashing.
