It does sound familiar.I have heard of *perish the thought* nits biting around the hair line and it becoming quite infected. I had something similar happen to me in London, as I used to do a lot of fishing around lakes an ting. There were many mosquitos as you can imagine all of which it seems started biting around my neck. Not long after getting bitten the bites all got infected to the point where as I was sleeping I would continually scratch the top off them which spread the infection all around over the back of my neck.Soon after my lymph nodes all began to swell and I began feeling awful,so off to the doctor I went(which really annoyed me as I dispise the health system or should I say ill-health system). To my horror I had managed to contract a disease called Typhus.A short dose of anti-biotics fixed it up.If I was in NZ I would have just had Kawakawa tea.Does this sound the same?Btw I stay in Piha,Auckland. Big up all dem Aotearoans!
where did you hear this? i think you may have misunderstood. it is true it isn't good to wash too often as your hair will start to produce more oil to compensate for the over washing; however, washing the old oils out of your hair is good and healthy. the old oils will be replaced by fresh new oils instead of staying in your hair and beginning to stink. good hygiene is pretty underrated here i've noticed
I wash my hair once every 10-14 days. I would hardly say its bad hygiene. People flat out do not need to wash their hair as much as they do. It all goes back to why people style their hair in the first place. It's nothing more than a fixation to wash your hair all the time and to style it everyday so you "look" presentable to the masses. Washing is important but most certainly not more once a week.
these are the dirty natural dreads i got from a week of not combing or washing...they've since been destroyed by detangler and a comb http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/album.php?albumid=1282&pictureid=13851
What do you mean where did I hear this?Who do you think your talking to?I'm a Rasta man not a dreadlock(in the words of jacob miller, check the vid) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HDEUeT88ajQ&feature=related I believe it is you who is misunderstood.Washing your hair depletes the natural balance of oils no matter which way you look at it!My locks dont stink nor are they dirty and the only water my hairs sees is rain river sea an waterfall!I take great offence to someone implying that what I do is wrong or that I should be using some commercially produced product, this is your expectation NOT MINE and I kindly ask you to refrain from dumping your Markist bull in my lap!! Almost ten years I have had mine and they are nice tidy and clean.Just check the pics. The oil you insist on washing out is the oil that keep my locks nice. So I say to you- go buy your precious foaming solutions by the truckload for it is you who shall wear the Karma for it draining it to the oceans and waterways.
Exactly my friend. What a rash thing to do.Would have been de mad fire dread gal.Afi keep dem locks gal show everyone who you are.
Wow, this has gotten awfully off topic. Perhaps a thread on the benefits/lack of benefits of regular washing should be started? Since this is about pictures, not washing, here I am!! They are ~2 months Bright and early this morning, note my sweet horse-themed sheets, in flannel! I love everyone's hair! Makes me excited for a few months down the road!!
True, seen?! This is Marksizm my friend.Fixations, expectations, false obligations and temptations are all weapons of mass distraction put in place by those who would want to harm my brethren. Shake off the veil that clouds your eyes and see it for what it Really is.
Thanks, skamikaze and Luxiebow! I want to see pictures of your dreads Luxiebow(you skamikaze!!), you say yours are about the same age as mine? I love how unique dreads look from one person to the next!!

Sounds similar! But she's all sweet know, guess I''ll never know the cause. Was fairly painful though! Aw Piha's gorgeous! And kudos to drinking kawakawa tea. Can't say it tickled my fancy... Windcriesmary! Those beads are supreme! I managed to score a tea pot and a tea cup bead the other day
