    oh, for sure; ya get the opiate residue from the outer seed shell, along with whatever other properties a "spice" can induce...
    Try some added banana peels...:D

    well, i've done both seperately and both are worth the preparation/ingestion.

    so naturally i'm just wondering if there are any interactions between the active chemicals in nutmeg and opiates. or, if there are problems related to respiration like there are with benzos/opiates.

    The active ingredient in nutmeg is myristic acid which is a known MAO inhibitor and when taking any form of maoi you want to avoid the following

    * sedatives
    * tranquilizers
    * antihistamines
    * narcotics (which are opiates)
    * alcohol
    * amphetamines (even diet pills)
    * mescaline
    * asarone
    * nutmeg
    * macromerine

    so no it probably isnt the greatest idea to mix the two
