That is all. Just wanted everybody to know that he'll be one of the NFL's elite quarterbacks over the next decade or so. Learn the name because you're going to start hearing it a lot.GO FALCONS!
Really, surely you're kidding... You've never heard of Tom Brady? That would be some pretty incredible ignoring of well, everything.
... I haven't really. I mean when I saw the title I started thinking of The Brady Bunch- or maybe an actor in a movie. I felt stupid when I opened the thread- but yeah. I doubt I will be hearing much about, or retaining much interest for Matt Ryan, either- well, Unless he is really hot.
no, i dont watch or follow sports even a little bit. when i heard tom brady my first thought was wayne brady, and then i realized i had the name wrong when i read the post
Hmmm. I thought knowing who Tom Brady is was a given, football fan or not. His mug has been everywhere for the last 3-4 years.
honestly i dont think i've ever heard of him i used to work at a coffee shop and regularly served a customer who turned out to be a local celebrity, played for the columbus crew and i think went to the olympics to represent the US as well, and i never had any idea who he was until one day a customer behind him in line asked for his autograph - and that was local and a sport which i've at least seen before. i've seen bits and pieces of football games, but i've never in my life watched an entire one, and have no clue who this guy is, really.
My brother in law is a Falcons fan and I'm a long time Patriots fan so yeah, the name Tom Brady does ring a bell. Falcons are doing quite well this year. It's good to see different teams make playoff runs each year. Matt Ryan is a decent QB. Gotta wonder if Michael Vick has any football career left once he gets out of the pokey.
Don't believe there is a way for the Falcons to make the playoffs this year. Still pretty incredible how well they are doing considering the terrible management and the conVicktion. I honestly hope to never see that asshole do anything else in regards to the NFL. I might boycott watching them if they allow his pathetic ass back in.
I've watched a full football game before and I've heard of Tom Brady, but I've never watched a full soccer game. *shameful blush*
Well I agree with the sentiment. It's funny how the media will try to create villains of some players and give a pass to others... Look at T.O. for instance. I feel very compelled to dislike him. So much of that is because the idiot box wants me to dislike him and has at times made very sure to highlight every antic of his and to creatively interpret his interactions with teammates that would be ignored if it were another player. Yet-- does he get arrested for drugs or weapons? Do we hear about his wild nights out to clubs? To be sure, if he DID do such things there's no doubt in my mind that we'd hear about them ad nauseum. We hear all about how he wrecks teams and what a bad seed he is, yet for such a supposed lowlife he seems to have NOT found his way into courtrooms; by and large his plays for attention are on the right side of the law. I've watched many a postgame press conference by the crowned prince of quarterbacks, the golden field general pedigree, that great white hope, Peyton Manning THROW his offensive line under the bus after a loss, see him pouting on the sidelines after a punt (I've seen Brady do that too!) and very rarely do I hear about him being a bad teammate. From where I stand I'd much rather have T.O. in my locker than prima donna Peyton
OOOOO, I'll take Peyton. What you point out otherwise is certainly correct. Must though also mention how much sports (people) like a redemption story. It seems you must demonize them and then praise their existence when not much has changed, when someone else is the bad news bear.
Yep- redemption stories AND tearing people off their pedestals. Let's hope Peyton does lose his cool and give his woman a black eye or he'll fall hard. I'll take Tony Romo as a team leader over Peyton because he seems to be a more fun personality to be around.
Further expanding on my preference to be a teammate for "promoted as bad boy" T.O.: There would be far more pressure playing with golden boy Peyton because failure couldn't be HIS fault, must be yours. Success with T.O. would earn you admiration for dealing with such a difficult individual and failure would most certainly be placed solely on his shoulders. I stand by my choice.
Honestly, I don't like either of them much. There are very few personalities in sports that I enjoy. When I was a kid, admittedly not a long time ago, there seemed to be a bit more class than crass.
