If one were looking to build a cabin in the forest, where would be a prime location?

depends on several factors, including location, topography, intended use of the cabin, etc...

unless the answer you're looking for is "on the ground."

    No, I wasn't looking for a pseudo-psychological babble.
    haha

I'm wondering about anywhere in North America.
    Perhaps a nice island.
I don't really want to be in the tropics, though.

Somewhere in Montana in a clearing where the sun filters through perfectly.

i couldn't choose. there are far too many great potential woodland homes in north america.

i suppose i would probably just end up somewhere in this general area, although i wouldn't necessarily say that's ideal.

    Violence solves nothing.

I just want to build my own home. Preferably something cabin-like.
    Maybe start a farm.

in that case, i'll say near the edge of the woods on relatively flat land.

or you could live on the side of a mountain and start a christmas tree farm.

Wyoming & California are my best bet.
    Maybe Oregon, too.
    Anyone here from Oregon?

B.C.- maybe Vancouver Island or any of the gulf islands...Little bit pricey to buy land there though...I have, however, met people who have done it illegally and that's worked out quite excellently for them- but does not for everyone :p

    It is BEAUTIFUL there.

if you dont mind chilly weather for most of the year, vashon island would be prime, but it is largely developed. not overly so, its mostly rural, but i dont know if there is a whole lot of forest going on there these days. but its beautiful, and there are a lot of small organic farms and such. its just outside of seattle (like a 20 minute ferry ride) so its chilly for much of the year, but it also never gets TOO cold due to currents and everything. so it doesnt get a proper hot summer, but it also doesnt freeze and get all snowy and icy so much as you'd expect for someplace so far north. for these reasons it's also prime territory for wood loving species of psilocybian mushrooms[IMG]

but i would personally want someplace a bit more warm, but still with pretty consistant weather and plenty of rain. i'd also think it would be nice to be up hill, assuming you had a paved driveway or at least a gravel path or something so you wouldnt slip in the mud from all the rain i'd want

Not the forest that featured in the Evil Dead Trilogy or The Blair Witch Project.

if you ever arent, consider vashon island. being near seattle, it also is very close to vancouver - just a little farther south:cheers2:

beautiful, gorgeous place, and no issue with getting citizenship in another country or something:)

Violence is what made Nazi beliefs to migrate around the world.
I, personally, will never admit that violence can solve problems.
    Just create new ones.
