Haven't seen a show since 1994 but I still consider myself a DH. I just discovered the Siirus GratefulDead station a month ago. ftw.
oh man ive done some phil tours but i never got to see jerry. i collected shows i had 77-93 whole shows and they got stolen out of my friends car.....u trade shows at all?
I certainly am. In fact, I am quite surprised that I got this username. I dont like it at all, but I made it less than a month ago I think and I would have thought that by now someone would have already made a name with one of the most obviouse references to the dead on a hippy site. I was really drunk when I made this account, I actually had no reccolection of making it until I logged into my email a few days later and saw the email welcoming me to hipforums. But I've been a lurker to these forums for much longer. Regardless, I am a huge fan of the dead and am listening to 1972-01-02 right now and have to say its one of the best shows I've heard. Its my first time listening to it, but i cant wait for the good lovin>china cat>good lovin. Pigpen really is the best.
RIP speedingarrow.net This was the modern tape traders haven that was shut down by Rhino Records. I really wish I could find another place to download these gems of musical history that available in stores.
If you go to the dead part of archive.org and stream the show you can go into your temporary files or whatever folder from the internet and then copy them for there and then you have them permanantly. Fuck the jerry garcia trust or whatever the fuck assholes who made it stream only. That probably includes bob weir and phil too. Actually i think phil spoke against it or something. One of them didnt want it to happen, and ive been hearing that unfortunatly bobby is kind of a dick nowadays. Whatever, he kicked ass back in the day.
BUMP What if jerry grew dreads? His hair was so curly and nappy, i wish he had let that shit lock up.
Yay for the GD! Ive never seen em...I didnt get into them untill way after Jerry passed. But I love the music and culture.
Total deadhead here. Got to see a couple hundred Dead and Jerry shows through the 80s and early 90s. I miss Jerry. I've yet to see Phil and Friends, but I hope to catch a few shows when I visit the lower 48 next summer. Listening to RFK 73 right now!
nice man, i never got to see jerry with the dead, but i have seen phil a shitload of times and i think his solo project is the best. sometimes he brings in joan osborne to bring a little donna jean flava from the 70's its really nice. haha the last one i went too he played brown sugar by the stones. since i am 1/2 black and 1/2 white i have bob marley's color skin. during the lyrics all these girls around me started jumping and pointing at me screaming "BROWN SUGAR! HOW COME YA TASTE SO GOOD?!" it was hilarious! lol bobby's group ratdog is good. he is fun too see but nothing like phil. but the best without jerry is when the rest of em went by "the other ones" they did a tour or 2 but then they changed the name to "the dead" which bob really didnt like. he thought it disrespected jerry and the grateful dead but he still did the tour. micky did some stuff too but never got a chance to see his solo stuff.
I've listened to alot of the Phil shows and really enjoy hearing Joan with them...good stuff. I saw a few Ratdog shows in 96 or so.
I've been into the Dead for a few years now--I've still got so much to listen to though! I went to the Penn State show this past October with a bunch of friends, and they rocked the house! Totally wish I coulda seen them when Jerry was still around though. I have the PA show on my computer, I could maybe figure a way to share it with any interested--it was a pretty groovy show! There were about 30 of us in the group from our 'family', and only about ten of us had tickets. Later, in the lot after the show, I found out that every one of our group ended up getting miracled into the show one way or another! Awesome energy floating around that night!
i'm kind of a second-generation deadhead? i guess? my dad was one, and i grew up listening to it. and phish. and lots of other niceness their music brings me a sense of nostalgia
ide love to hear the show. put it on a disc or something ill trade you a great show to add to your collection
