Remember what happened the last time there was a major tragedy with an untested politician in charge? Remember Katrina? Remember Ray Nagin's complete lack of competance. Remember President Bush offering support but Gov. Kathleen Blanco denied help. I admit that FEMA chief Brown and NHS chief Chertoff screwed up as well, but I don't blame Bush. Mostly I blame Nagin and Blanco. So now we have an untested rookie in the oval office. So the jackass terrorists are going to have more of an opportunity to come back over here. Remember 9/11? There will probably be an attack next year at some time due to Obama's soft negotiation tactics with the assholes. Plus he is a socialist, so our taxes are going to go up. He says no "New" taxes, but he is probably going to remove Bush's tax cut, that that will have the same affect. And God help us that he doesn't try to Socialize Healthcare. That is going to cost the lives of thousands. I don't mind that he's half black (Yes, I'm a White Southerner, but so what?). I'm not trying to make that comparision to Nagin. I don't care that he was born in Hawaii before it was a state, that he went to school in Indonesia or that his middle name is Hussein. I only care about the way that he thinks. And the way that he thinks is going to have serious consequences for America. Yes, I am conservative, economically. But I come to the hipforums because I am liberal, socially. I think taxes should be as low as possible, and anytime the government gets involed with our daily lives or tries to control business (Like Healthcare) bad things happen. I also believe that government needs to stop worring about marijuana, abortion and fags getting married. Who cares?? Nobody else gets hurt, right? So why are these things illegal in some places?? Name one Socialist country that has an economy as strong as ours, or some other Democratic country with a Capitalist economy. Clark has done well. And de Kirchner is doing well, but she is a friend of Chavez, and I don't trust anyone that is a friend of Chavez. He is an enemy of America (and of course a socialist.) and sent several millions dollars to Russia (possibly one of the most dangerous countries on the planet. Remember South Ossetia?) to buy weapons so he can point them at us. We had the Cuban missile crisis back in the 60's (Talk about real Socialist assholes, Castro is near the top of the list.) We better pray that we don't have the Venezuelan Missle Crisis in the near future. Other Socialist cock smokers that we better pray Obama doesn't try to emulate; Mussolini, Mugabe, Kim, Papa Doc and Baby Doc Duvalier, Franco, Pinochet and of course Lenin, Stalin, Marx, Putin, Gorbechov, Medvedev, Mao and Chiang. I didn't put Hitler because he is way off the charts on the asshole list. OK I admit that Obama will probably never ruin our country's economy as badly as any of the previously mentions jackasses, I just don't anticipate seeing how far he is going to go in trying. Oh, yeah I almost forgot. Obama is going to try and take our guns away. I'm not good with a bow and arrow, how else can I shoot a deer or an elk? Also How can I kill a home intruder if I don't have a gun? If you do a little research you will find that when guns are illegal the only people that have them are the criminals. Also home invasions actually go up because the bad guys know that the homeowners don't have guns. Also in places where guns are legal, most illegal shootings stickups and whatever happen with unregistered illegal guns. Just about everytime a legal gun is used in a shooting it was some form of self defense. Or I gotta admit there are accidents. But that is what locks and education are for, to prevent accidents.
I seriously doubt that Obama would be able to go near the 2nd Amendment without Congress erupting into chaos, first of all. Second, I highly doubt Obama can do as much damage Bush has already done to our economy. If anything gets worse, it will happen most likely within the first two years of his presidency, and at that point you really can't blame him...our economy has a lag between what the government sets in place and what actually happens (note: Clinton leaving and the economy is bearable for the next ~2 years and then Bush's corporation-friendly cuts taking action). Besides, Marx was a political genius. And he really didn't "smoke cock" and ruin any country's economy. He wrote a book and died before anything bad tainted the name of Socialism. In theory, and with good practice, his beliefs are very plausible and could be attained, creating a rather appealing lifestyle. And really, if Socialism smoked so much cock, wouldn't you think China would be slowing down on all the cock smoking?
Yes, I am conservative, economically. But I come to the hipforums because I am liberal, socially. Dear Rush Limbaugh's Parrot, A "fiscally conservative, socially liberal Republican" usually just means a gaybashing fascist who has been raised with enough courtesy to know to apologize for voting for America's worst enemies on Election Day. Usually. Conservatives have wasted over four thousand of our best warriors. They've destroyed our credibility with every ally we had. They've bogged us down in two wars just to open a line of cashflow to their donors (for which only a few, like Duke Cunningham, are currently serving time for). They've killed literally hundreds of thousands of people of what they consider to be "lesser races." They've raided the treasury and turned it all over to private contractors, and now have even managed to sit back laughing while they crash the economy on a scale that already rivals 1929. There really isn't a problem in this country that's not the direct result of the fact that there are living, breathing, and whining Republicans here wreaking havoc on our country. They really are the sole cause of major problems in this country, period. Like a cult of terrorists, really, except that they've done more harm than the combined efforts of every terrorist group on the planet. The REAL AMERICANS have spoken. Now it's time for conservatives to STFU- or get the hell out of the country. Love it or leave it, as true conservatives used to say. You are no longer welcome here. And it takes a special inbred variety of conservative to whine and cry about the scary evil black man on his way to the WH, all the while spouting rightwing myths while disavowing loyalty to what's being parrotted. The conservative movement is OVER. It's in the same trash heap as Soviet communism and belief in a flat Earth or creationism. Now, please cast aside your prejudices, and join us Real Americans in trying to fix all the problems caused by these true conservatives. Or, at least get out of the way so the Real Americans can clean up the mess left by conservatives. /climbs down from soapbox
You realize that comparing Obama to Nagin screams racism, right? Maybe not you you, maybe not to me, but to a lot of people. PS- Socialism works, greedy fiscal conservatives fuck it up. Who's the cocksmoker now?
A social conservative minds their own business. Political conservatives do not make excessive laws pertaining to how people choose to live their lives and they stay out of other countries business. It seems that a lot of people think that marijuana laws are made by conservatives it is the socialist who make these kinds of laws mark my words..
Weren't we sold Bush on the premise that he was qualified and tested? If Homeland Security was a necessary agency, then no matter how unqualified state officials were our response to Katrina should have been more successful, and federal powers should have proven more important to national security then the state interests of the moment. Why blame Nagin when the governor actually proved the most problematic or the two. Brownie/Michael Brown should have overridden her concerns and applied the influence of FEMA, but he seemed ill prepared.
China. Actually, Obama recently said that his favourite book is "Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln" by Doris Kearns Goodwin. He's been mirroring a lot of his administration based on the philosophies of this book, that democracy can easily fall into tyranny. He's umm... not going to model a Communist, but it's cute that you're worried he will.
thing is, some americans want a socialist/comunist leader.... people who never would have considered it ten years ago. times they are a changin' (I think obama is a leftist capitalist, and all this hype is insane though, so not changing as much as I'd like.)
Man, your gonna ruffle everyone's feathers with this. I'll just say your wrong......98%......no maybe 96%.
What I find "interesting" are the stickers, t-shirts, posters, signs, bumper stickers, etc... with communist propaganda type images of Obama's face. I don't recall ever seeing anything like that with a US President Elect before. These are images I would expect to see in communist Russia or China. What is it with Obama? Is it the marketing of Obama that has people's expectations so high, or are they just so desperate for "change" that they feel they need a savior and chose Obama? I use the term "interesting" because I am not quite sure what to think about it. I mean, Obama is essentially an unknown. Promise this, promise that, name one legislative accomplishment that is an inclination to the "change" that people are expecting. I don't see anything wrong with being optimistic, and I understand the cultural achievement of a half-black man being elected POTUS, but I really don't understand all the hype. I have literally talked to people who were almost in tears of joy when talking about Obama being elected, but they couldn't really answer why. It is "interesting".
I think it's more a mass consumer marketting thing. Everyone is seeking to make money off his election. Thus the commemorative coins, the posters all the souvenirs. Much like the Queen's jubilee. The tears of joy thing I think is more just relief that the reign of Cheney/Bush is over. Many of us couldn't believe Bush could be reelected, but he was. Obama has his work cut out for him. He's going to have to work harder than most past presidents just to keep his head above water. Many of us that voted for him realize this, and we don't think of him as a saint, but we do see him as educated and well grounded, and that does give us hope. And that's something we haven't had a lot of for eight years.
Shit, to have a president that can speak whole sentences and understands our constitution is enough to make most of us estatic.
I would like to see your references for only a 2 year lag in economics... It takes 8 to 12 years for the economic policy of a president to really manifest itself. Economics is a giant thing and does not change over night at all :edit: On the subject of Obama I really think he's A NWO figurehead
I'm not saying our economy overall has a 2 year lag, my point was more that there IS a lag. I mean, it took a while before we hit rock bottom from when the stock markets crashed on Black Friday to people starting to wait in bread lines.
:iagree:, I think today we are surrounded by a society who expects everything to be handed to them and everything done for them. There are very few left that can survive on their own with out the help of others. So now they look to the government for everything that they can't do or achieve on their own. I wonder far too often how some people are even able to find food. I'm sure my grandfather said similar things about the generations after his.
