my bf is starting to bald and it sped up a bit when he had dreads, but he thought if he only had the half circle of hair in the back, he could grow a beard and dread it all. i think it would look something like a lion with a receding hair line.

Thanks guys. We really are happy, it's not just the pics LOL I married my best friend, I think it makes a huge difference. But my sister (the photographer) really has a way of capturing special moments.

I've had my dreads for roughly 6 months (someone asked).

I don't think my hubby would go for half dreads/half bald. Though I can see how it would be appealing, and maybe even look better than plain old bald LOL Who knows, maybe he'll come around. I think he's a sexy piece of ass regardless...oops, did I say that?

People can actually tell that I have dreads now. That makes me feel better. For a while my hair was just so crazy looking I think some people were wondering if I did it on purpose, yk?

When will the roots lock? Someone tell me to be patient and that it will happen, please? Do all dreads eventually lock at the roots?

 

the roots are way slow at locking. mine tighten a bit, then grow out to make them loose, then tighten back up.

 

My roots are like 2inches long....

 

and that's how they'll probably stay. look closely at people's dreads and you'll see 1-2 inches of loose hair at the root (unless they twist them or something to force them to lock at the root). The hair grows out and THEN dreads, so there's always about 1 or 2 loose inches.

 

Thanks Gaia for clearing that up. I just assumed they'd look like NakedTreehugger's eventually. Wishful thinking...

 

the half bald thing made me think of one of those chinese monk guys with the really really really long hair in the back and shaved head up in the front, dreads would look badass on one of those guys!
