The day I will both smile and cry

More and more, people of difference race, colour, creed and background are coming together, getting married, and having children. And I think it's a wonderful thing.

Eventually, with all this crossbreeding, all humans on earth will be one race - the human race - one that comprises of every ethnic group on the planet. On that day, I will smile, for that day will dawn the end of racism.

But on that day, I shall shed a tear of sadness. That day will be the day the wonderful diversity of the world will be lost. We will all be the same, we will all be clones.

The World is full of so many different people. So many different cultures. Lots of colour and variety. Each and every person on this planet is wonderful in his or her own way. Why can't we all just accept one another for who we are?

If the only way to stop racism is to become all the same, to become clones, then I don't know if I want to live in that world.

Black, white, brown or yellow. Pagan, Christian, Buddhist or Hindu. Gay, straight or bisexual. European, African or Asian. Fat or thin. Tall or short. Little or large. Male or female. It does not matter.

Lets all celebrate the diversity of the world, while we still have it. Lets be the human race NOW.

(Sorry for the double post, I just think this will get more of a reaction here than in the other forum).

 

I am so totally with you on this. I absolutely adore all the amazing diversity of life on earth. I love the different colours, races, beliefs etc. I think that's better than tolerance. To actually LOVE what makes us all so different. I don't want just 'coffee-coloured people'. I want them black, red, yellow, brown, white and any other colour they can come up with! I want different kinds of music, and food, and cultures, and belief systems. Different environments and climates. I want to embrace all of it at once. I guess the way to look at it is that each of these 'mixes' become their own unique 'blend' of genetics, and it is really making more diversity, not less. Anyway, that's what I hope.

 

Oh crap. Did my away message about how I can't stand Bible enthusiasts offend you? omg, I'm so sorry Dan.

 

What message is that? Don't get me wrong, I hate extremists myself.. (and hold no faith in the bible). We've chatted on messenger before, and I think we both agree on a lot of things, so I'd not worry about it.

UPDATE: I've spoken with prism, and it's cool... I believe that we should respect all other cultures and faiths, etc.. enjoy them even... but they should not be forced upon people, and that was what this was about... it's no biggie.

 

I agree with ya Dan. That's the way it was MEANT to be. We're all HUMAN. No matter waht pigment our skin may have, or what God we pray to. I hope we all are around to see that day, and that it comes very soon.

 

I truly hope us all becoming more noticing of our similarities rather than our differences will make everyone realise there is no reason to fight each other, and that we can all live in peace... I don't think however that all differences will be lost over time even though we will probably all be the same colour in a few centuries. I'm convinced that the human mind, at least with a few people, will continue to strive towards being an individual and standing out among the others. We might not have different skin colours anymore but we will not all be the same person. Methinks.

 

I don't think that day will ever come, and I sure hope is doesn't. I'm very proud of my heritage, and I will not accept being melted into another race.

 

I think that maybe you're missing the point of the post.. it's not a case of being assimulated into another culture (wow, i made it sound like the borg or something), but rather enjoying the diversity of life, while we still have it.

 

No one is asking you to. What we're talking about basically, is: Tollerance.
We all have the same organs, we all bleed when injured, we're talking about THAT kind of we're all the same.
One race. Human.

nohelmetlaws, If you're white, and you like white women, then marry a white woman... that's up to you to do... don't however start telling other people that they also have to stick with their own colour just because you want to...

That's like a stright person that does not like the idea of gay sex... well guess what.. don't have gay sex, no one is forcing you to..

 

You guys obviously missed the entire point of nohelmetlaws' post--and then you tried to put him down.

In the first post World of Dan mentions the eventual existance of only one race, literally. Nohelmetlaws is "proud of [his] heritage" and enjoys the fact that he is culturally from one specific traceable place. There is nothing wrong with that. This has nothing to do with prejudice. No need to explain tolerance to the guy as I'm sure he understands fully.

World peace wouldn't happen, anyways . Every group of people has "bad seeds" who f*ck everything up. The liberal utopia is a pipe-dream/acid-trip and nothing more.

 

Who said anything about world peace? I don't remember saying that - I said an end to racism..

But then, if you go on further, I also talk about the fact that we don't need to wait until we're all one race to end racism... we can do it now. That was the point of my message in the first place.
