such a beauty! fantastic eyes!

 

yeah, her life's story is pretty damned heartbreaking. poverty, warfare, fanaticism, death. i think she was angry, annoyed and resigned to having her picture taken in the first pic.

 

Its sad how her eyes look so dead now.

 

i can't swear to it, but it looks to me as if the entire photo on the right is duller in color than the older photo.

either way, yeah i remember hearing about this a few years ago, and i'm sure she hasn't had the best life.

iirc she was fully unaware that the first photograph had become such a famous and iconic image around the world
