i ask because my mom may have purchased a laptop on black friday...with vista. i currently have windows xp, and just heard vista sucks.
i use a mac, but what i've been hearing from PC users is that vista doesn't really suck, it's just different than XP and such so you have to learn a whole new system... and some people don't want to do that so they just say it sucks.
nothing new to learn at all. It's like xp but easier to use. Can't find a file? Type the name into the search bar in the start menu and it finds it in seconds. More user friendly interface than xp too. Everyone who says it sucks has never tried it and is just going along with the trend of hating it.
Why does it suck? Because it drains so much resources when I can have almost all of Vistas features on XP and have it run alot smoother.
Vista got a real bad wrap when it came out because Microsoft certified pc's as Vista Compatible when they really were not-they needed more power, more memory, drivers were not ready. Microsoft did that to get more people to buy vista and to "help" the hardware vendors who were paying for the "Vista Ready" logo on their box. Vista has some issues-but it is much better. Just make sure you have at least 2 gig of memory.
i fuckin hate it.id rather have xp.vista does have some cool and different shit though.but if only it was as good as xp was.
My Son has vista, I have xp on this box. Not a huge difference. It's an ok operating system, if you have the option switch to Ubuntu or similar, it kicks windows ass. Viruses and malware will become a thing of the past much faster system performance, and my favorite it that it won't change your setting without you knowing about it. Oh, and it is totally free. Peace
Vista is like the windows for people who were too dumb to run any previous Windows release.. dumbed down and over secured... i was helping my buddy set up stuff on his vista desktop today.. it was hellishly annoying.. not helping him.. using vista
I have both XP and Vista and I like XP better. At first Vista was very unstable but has been fixed so that it crashes only slightly more than XP. To me the biggest annoyance is that every time you open a program that’s not windows, a box pops up and asks if you really want to open it, a safety feature I guess but at first it’s really annoying but you kind of get use to it. I hear you can turn it off but with that you lose some of the safety. PS I heard that they are no longer updating XP but that could be just a rumor.
a computer is as safe as the person who uses it.. meaning.. if you're stupid and download shit you don't know about.. you're gonna fuck up your computer either way.. safety features or not..
actually.. Windows 7 is where its at.. http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/4475431/ actually i don't know much about windows 7 except that i've heard that its not gonna be for the computer illiterate.. its only in beta right now.. i think its to be released in '10
After a few tweaks (such as disabling the UAC popups and the sidebar), I really like Vista. Working at a computer repair shop, however, I see a lot of Vista hate. In my professional opinion; if you do not have the hardware to run Vista, you have no right to complain about the performance. What irks me more are the people who dislike it without even using it.
i've used vista twice.. did not care for it.. and i agree.. a lot of people think vista runs so slow and then you find out they are only running 1gb of ram.. when vista needs 2gb at minimal.. 4gb to run super smooth.. XP.. 2gb and you are smooth sailing..
