    Ahoy!

I do apologise if there's a thread already, but are there any anti-dandruff shampoos that are dread-friendly? My locs are about 7 weeks old now, and the dandruff is kinda irritating. My loctician said Head & Shoulders is residue free... can someone confirm this?

    Peace! :D

    Welcome.
Do not use Head & Shoulders!
Just to cover the basics... Dont use wax :)
Use some Dr. Bronners, residue free completely natural ingredients, washes & locks up dreads so good! and it has 18 different uses!
Or try the using the deep clense solution: http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/showthread.php?t=303589&f=209

    :) Good luck

No I can't, but I'd be extremely surprised if it was completely residue free. I did try using just a head & shoulders shampoo on my dreads and it didn't feel great at all. I used it about twice I think. If you don't want to buy into any of these so called dread shampoos which aren't worth it anyway, overpriced and not necessary. I'd go for Dr bronner's or baking soda/bicarbonate of soda (depending on where you're from) with a little tee tree oil mixed in.

I personally switch between those two depending on how I feel and what I have there. I've said it before I don't think Dr bronner's is that amazing really its just very good value going on how much you can dilute it. Thats my main reason for buying it.

You could always have a look in some shops for some other natural shampoo, just stay away from anything that conditions your hair.

Oh yeah sorry to get back to the point. The dandruff should get less over time as your hair gets used to having dreads and being washed a little less. Thats also another good reason for adding tee tree oil to baking soda its great for dandruff, also it repells lice and a good remover of bacteria or so I believe....

Hmm, thanks for the feedback! I'm currently using a bar shampoo from Lush (for those familiar with the stores :p). Seems to do the job pretty well. Yeah, I've stayed away from wax! I seem to be the only dreadhead around this town who's done that.
What do you mean depending where I'm from?

    I'll look for Dr Bronners!
