Hiya, I've been going natural since around May. My hair is starting to knot up, only very thin dreads appear to be forming. Will these thicken up over time? peace
Going all natural means different things to different people. If you were to take that word to it's meaning and do jack to your hair, then you will end up with a uni-dread in some point in time. You can control the size of your dreads simply by ripping certain congos into sections you want. How often you rip is your call. But all in all, yes they will get thicker with time, and you can then maintain the thickness by ripping.
Some parts of my hair started becoming really thin locks, but then i forgot about it for a while and then all the small parts had just turned into a big one. So if you want fat locks just dont worry about it cause the small ones with join up as far as i know. But then again, i have weird hair. Some parts were stubborn as fuck and never wanted to lock, but once it does they constantly want to eat each other up. I seriously need to rip some of them apart almost daily.
im glad someone asked this. My hair is naturally dreading, and they are all pretty much really thin, and I NEVER rip them apart, because I dont have to. I dont want fat dreads, just fatter than what I have
you're in exactly the same boat as me, I guess with time things will sort themselves out - like the process as a whole really!
Hah, well I have naturals starting (I'll post pictures today), and one side of my head has somewhat fat dreads (not fat, but larger than the other by a long shot), while the other side has tiny dreads. The back has one dread in the center, and my undergrowth is just chilling there, just being hair and all. It was one of the reasons I stopped them in the first place; one side was fat, one was thin. I'm just going to assume that they'll fatten up over time, or I'll have some really unique, asymmetrical dreads going on.
