Im a 1st time grower who has 3 plants. All 3 are about 2-1/2 weeks into 12/12. The info i read suggest going about 3 weeks at 12/12 then to like 9/12. Some info i read here suggests longer. What should i be looking for? Also im running out of room...i have like 14" of room left to raise my lights...Will the plants slow down on height?
Having heard both the 12/12 and 9/12 instructions from different people, I decided to go with what I've read in Jorge's book and just stick with 12/12. It will be interesting to see how the experts in the group reply to your question. Regarding height, I have seen plants that have been bent over and tied in order to maintain distance from the lights. Maybe someone will reply with tips on how to do it or indicate an alternative. Some strains will double in highth from the on set of 12/12,but these tend to be sativa/sativa dominate strains for the most part.Expect a 30% increase in highth form onset of 12/12.it is suggested to keep flower cycle at 12/12 for duration of flower as there is no geographical location where cannabis is derived from that only has 9 hr days.Stick with mother nature,you cannot go wrong.
Thanks MG. I was chatting with a gal from NY yesterday who was on-line inquiring why her buds were looking gnarly. She talked about having moved weekly from 12/12 to 11/12 to 10/12 and so on all of the way down to 6/12! Told her I was no expert, but would guess that reducing the duration of light was the probable cause. She expressed doubt because she was the following instructions she was given by someone at a grow store. Go figure..
