because they are less easy to control. the whole reason that drugs are illegal is because they were connected to the members of social movements, so the government made them illegal as a way of combating this... as a form of control.. CONTROL!!!
i'm not really a fan of sports either. it just all seems like a needless ego boost to me. i think it's ideal to let go of ones ego, rather than boost it. and well about what to do with enlightenment... i think that there is always going to have to be life on all planes of existence, and as such holding on until the entire world is enlightened is an impossible goal. it's not a bad thing to help those that are ready, or even just try to help people in general. but there will always be people that are not enlightened. like relayer mentioned, profound sadness is just a part of existence. well, as is sentient beings that are not enlightened. i do beleive in living a selfless life and helping others reach a better place in life as much as possible though, but there is no need to spend eternity doing this... unless that is your thing. like how enlightened lamas choose to be reincarnated rather than move on to a higher place, to help spread the word. it's a completely worthy cause, but it's also not a bad thing to move on.
I skipped to the end, so I dont know if this has been covered, but have you taken LSD? It may sound like a stupid question, but there are rules against drugs in orthodox Judaism, right? I wondered because you never referenced your personal experience. And to those suggesting he may have a disorder, youve obviously never met an orthodox Jew before.
NorCali, maybe you should have watched instead of skipping, because he explained that he tried virtually every drug in his youth when he was an atheist, and that he later became jewish. You would, because you're a good, honest person. Unfortunately our leaders are not. They are crooks with more fingers in more cookie jars than history will ever know or reveal, also because they control the writing of history. Our world leaders are conmen and savagely backwards small minded men who seek only power, control, and power. They are not interested in your intelligence. They are only interested in your obedience.
Some recommended reading on this subject: Brave New World by Aldous Huxely. This fictional work explains the reasons for having many different levels of intelligence in a smoothly running society.
See, it seems to me that even the framers of the Constitution wanted a little distance between them and their populace (the electoral college can be seen an exapmle). I mean they were ignorant farmers and not really qualified to run a government. However, times have changed, I gather - from the sheer amount of information available on line these days about virtually anything. Even if a government wished to exert control over a populace, wouldn't you imagine they'd rather control an intelligent, motivated populace that is spiritually sensitive? What does the government gain by denying us these freedoms?
My point in making this was to get Orthodox Jews to talk about it. You can't really do it now with people who are born orthodox because they are not allowed to break the law. However, if it became legal, that would be a different story.
Your message is great and your intention is beautiful but I agree that the constant swaying and hand movements will confuse your message for many people. You are obviously a very intelligent man and I agree with most of what you have to say but your unconscious body language says that something is wrong. Maybe it's just a matter of time before you're completely comfortable with who you are. I honestly believe that when you fully realize that you have a wonderful message and you are definitely on the right path you're nervous behavior will disappear. There is no reason for you to be nervous and your nervous behavior is clouding your message as many people will assume that there's something psychologically wrong with you. The truth is that you are afraid that you will not be accepted for who you are. This is a natural progression and I'm sure you will overcome this. Do you actually think there's something wrong sexual relations outside of wedlock?
No, because such people would question. Such people would act against their rulers at a moment's notice of tyranny or idiocy. Instead of being the placated, ignorant sheep that they are today. Control. Surrender. Submission.
That's cool, Ive felt for a long time that Jewish mysticism and the psychedelic community could easily overlap one another. My dad has recently become quite active in our local Chabad center, and he has a lot to say about their version of their religion. I was raised with wishy washy conventional Judaism, which is just as institutionalized as American churches are, so Id written religion off for a long time. But the Chabads are far more spiritual than my old rabbi. I feel like they've captured the essence of Judaism, and abandoned the soulless institutions, which is what I think needs to happen the world over. Anyways, my point is that perhaps a psychedelic Jewish sect is what it will take to get the legalization ball rolling. After all, certain Indians are permitted peyote, and there is evidence that psilocybin may have played a role in the Old Testament.
Thanks for the feedback. The next videos I made about MDMA and THC came out better, I think. It is actually ritual practice to sway when we are discussing things that matter to us, but as you noted it can be interpreted as actual mental illness. Yeah, it was hard to talk into the camera knowing that the whole world will be able to see this. I mean in the orthodox Jewish world where I pray and the like, this stuff isn't even whispered about. But I hope all that will change when we get this legalized. All the best... About sexual relations out of wedlock - personally I was very shy growing up. I grew up in a secular house, but it wasn't until I was 17 that I had my first girlfriend who was also my first partner. And I was hers. I really thought we were going to get married, but it only lasted 2 years. Long distance... Anyway, since then and before I became religious, I kind of felt that way about my other partners. I mean once you have sex, I feel like that should be it. I know it's not very forward thinking and it probably sounds like I'm pitching some sort of religious agenda, but it's not true. I really thing you should just stick it out with your first partner. We spend so much time looking for someone better instead of making it work. But that's just me. If it's good for you, so be it. For me, it just confuses me going forward and I find myself looking back at the past asking what could have been.
See, that would be a dream come true. I really wonder if there was a serious attempt to have this classified as sacrament. Something tells me after the Charles Manson case, everything went out the window. It makes me think of when fire was discovered. I'm sure some people gt burned at first, before they could control it. Imagine if the government was like, "Okay, no more fire. Fire is illegal forever. It kills..." That's the kind of thinking that has led to this drug being illegal for so long. But I do have my faith...
See, but if the government is also enlightened, where is the threat of tyranny? It seems to me this threat only exists if there is a disparity in intelligence between the government and the populace. If this was part of our culture, we'd have excellent people in government and they would be accountable. Everything would be transparent and we wouldn't need to worry about tyranny and the like. Right?
Yes your reasoning is correct. I'm just refering to the reality that our governments are NOT enlightened. But if they were, then yes they would follow principles like the ones you outlined, agreed.
Someone actually noted this on the video itself (was that you?). My response was if I get zits and LSD is legalized, so be it. It's a small price to pay. I imagine if LSD were legalized and people were free to use, we as a society would focus much less on things like physical appearance. Something tells me that the not so great looking hippies of the 60's that produced all that great music were on to something. I have no idea why entertainment today is the way it is with the actors and actresses by and large looking so physically outstanding. What does that really add to our experience? I'm not quite sure - but it's just one of those things that goes unquestioned. What it does do is make the rest of us feel physically inferior in some way, even if it's highly subconscious. I still don't know why they simply don't cap actor's and athlete's salaries at $35,000 a year or something. They add virtually nothing to society and something tells me these guys would still pursue these jobs. And take the surplus and give it to teachers or even policemen or firemen. If we paid cops properly, you'd never be scared of getting pulled over for no reason or being abused by a cop. But I digress...
dude I don't want to ruffle any feathers but that cockamamie shmuck in the video has got a lot of chutzpeh! :cheers2:
I think you're being nice. I don't think it's chutzpeh, really. I am trying to have this legalized so the community I am now a part of can consider it. If somethings illegal, it is off limits in the orthodox world. And I see a lot of people kind of teetering between being into service of G-d and not really. I don't know - I just want more open discussion about this at the government level and didn't really know how to get that accomplished if not by broadcasting these thoughts in an open forum.
