Yup, it's true! I have a couple of pairs of dress shoes I wear when I go on business trips. The heel on one shoe was a bit loose and squeaking so I wanted it to be tightened. I also found it funny when I took them in. I couldn't help but wonder if the people who owned the shop were wondering if this is the only pair of shoes I owned and had to go barefoot because I had nothing else to wear. But it's true, I went barefoot to the shoe repair shop - twice - once to drop them off and once to pick them up.
