Help needed! (explain the word)

    can someone help me to clear the meaning of the word "to duck" in the context:

    [FONT=&quot]“Well why did you come find me?” I was watching the dandelions and didn’t see him stare at me with one opened eye. If I had, I would have ducked. Instead I groaned to feel his tongue rake across my cheek and up the side of my head[/FONT]

    i just need to translate one short story but no dictionaray gives this verb...

    "He threw the stone at my head and I ducked. The stone struck the windshield of the car behind me"

    its like when you crouch down or move to the side very quickly as to avoid being hit by something
