If someone was to go hunting for shrooms on a farmer's property do you think the shoot if he saw them? Is it legal for them to shoot someone walking around their fields? How dangerous is this activity? Advice from experienced hunters would be appreciated GREATLY. :cheers2:
they will not shoot you if your wearing the required amount of day light orange.. Which is actually the law anyways when walking in the woods during hunting season. Even if your not hunting.. I know thats not what you wanted to know, No you will not get shoot. But you shouldnt be tresspassing, If you went out in the day time /you could disguise yourself as a animal hunter, or pusher.. And pretend your lost. since your likely be hunting mushrooms in the spring and fall. These ae active times for sports hunting.. Blend in... Someone see you you could say you were just passing through pushing bunnies or whatever other animal(in season) Then apologize for being there and ask if you can stay or pass through. have a good day..
where i live they shoot first ask questions later. and for good reason too, livestock are expensive and people actually steal them. a good steer can run you around 4000 bucks. they have to protect their property and if it means some rock salt shot in your ass so be it. dont risk it. people think just because there is a field with shit there are shrooms...not true. many many fields do not produce the right kind, you just have to find it by skill or dumb luck. better yet someone who knows where they grow.
just ask... tell them you are mushroom hunting for a class project or something. when i lived in florida se went hunting all the time best thing to do is just ask.
