hello all my fellow dreadies. an african woman gave me a bottle of this stuff called "nubian heritage body wash" the ingrediets are peppermint and aloe butter, shea butter almond oil, peppermint, baking soda......she said to wash my locks with them but im skethy bout putting it in my hair so pleeease help these things need a cleanin :hat:
A lot of people here wash their hair with just baking soda and water, it won't harm your hair. Almond oil and peppermint is used in Dr Bronners so they should be fine, too... but I don't know about shea or aloe butter.
It should be fine. The oils and butters will mousturize your locks without conditioning them or leaving residue.
That sounds like a really good combo. Don't worry too much about the shea butter because you'll be washing it out anyways. Pure shea butter is really really soft unlike the ones I've seen that get rock hard so it shouldn't be a problem. Sometimes in the case of oily hair/skin, using oils are good because it tells your body to stop producing excess amounts. You gotta use something. And a good baking soda and apple cider vinegar rinse will get your hair extra clean.
