We had our thanksgiving last thursday, cuz thats when we got the turkey, and my wife had a day off. Its pretty much gone now, I'm finishing up the last of the turkey noodle soup I made earlier this week. I've boiled more meat off of more bones this year.....
We get to go do the eating, we helped make desserts last night. But honestly, I think that if we ever had to do Thanksgiving on our own, be it because of living situations, whatever, I wouldn't do it anymore. I don't like Turkey or football and pumpkin pie's alright, but eh. My friend is starting a tradition with her boyfriend. They're buying non-perishables and donating them to food banks and shelters because she spent her childhood impoverished with 2 younger sisters and an older brother and food banks kept them alive. Every food drive, her mom would save the money to get one can of food for each of them to take to school, saying that was her way of "giving back." So in the same spirit, my friend is giving back for Thanksgiving. I think that's pretty cool.
my mom is cooking right now. i helped out by running down to the store to get some more eggs and milk haha
lol, I just realized I capitalized turkey in my previous post. I'm going to leave it so that I can offend some Turkish people.
I got up at 8 am to start on the turkey. After that I fixed mac'n cheese, dressing, green beans, and baked beans. I fixed the pumpkin cheesecake last night as well as the potato salad. I feel sick now after eating so much.
I'm making chicken stock right now with a free range spring chicken, some leeks and celery and some rain water...gonna freeze it batches to use later. Can't be bothered cooking a meal today so I'm gonna go get some chips with gravy from the fish and chip shop and grate cheese on it, and maybe have some chocolate or a cheesecake for dessert. Monday I'm making my own tortillas and I'm going to make some kind of Ricotta cheese enchiladas for my family.
lets see: first ate thanksgiving dinner around 3pm. a nice plate with everything cooked (turkey, stuffing, 2 types of potato sides, yams, salad) then around 6 had some leftovers, with a slice of pumpkin pie and now, my 3rd plate and will have some cake afterwards
i had a few bites of everything. i left to take old lady and othergirl dinner and my bro-in-law had thrown my plate away. I was peeved. Lots of good food in the trash. not that there isnt plenty.
