... I have just had the most insane trip ever ... and I will tell you about it when the salvia dies down ... oh. my. god.
(This post being nearly 12 hours after the actual experience) Salvia is nothing short of astonishing. It is hard to imagine such a powerful substance exists, that it exists in nature, and that it is not yet illegal, though I can see that the power it contains is so phenomenal that there is no way that salvia could catch on as a recreational drug. In my previous experiences, I did not recognize this level of power ... it's ... I mean, it was just rediculous. Either way ... on to the trip report. =) It's very long, I warn you now! ===== The night began at 9:00 PM, when my roommate (henceforth known as "J") and I headed over to the dorm room of yet another friend ("C"). When we arrived, J brought out a vaporizer and C handed him a bowl of ground-up Cannabis indica; some quite potent bud, I might add. J spread the grindings evenly into the vaporizer bowl and we proceeded to breathe in the THC vapor, the 3 of us taking turns. After a few hits, C's friend "L" joined in until the whole bowl was vaporized. After a while, the cough aftertaste made me the slightest bit nauseous, so when J and C packed another bowl into the vaporizer, I just passed the drawtube along. After the 2nd bowl was cashed, J and I pondered smoking some Salvia divinorum. As I was not feeling ready (disoriented due to the indica), I decided not to smoke any salvia, and J packed another bowl of indica (buds this time) into his bong, and we started using that instead of the vaporizer. Eventually, C's roommate, who we will call "Jx" came into the room and joined the three of us (L had gone back to his desk, and didn't smoke anymore; soon, he left the room). By the time this bowl was cashed, C asked Jx if he wanted to smoke some salvia. Jx gave him a yes, and we packed the bong with some salvia 5x extract. We took months of research into account, and advised Jx of exactly how to smoke it; moments, later, torch lighter in hand, Jx lit up the bowl and torched it until the salvia seemed to melt within itself into what looked like a weathered stone. Soon afterward, Jx took another hit of the same size, and sat back into his beanbag, and described what he was feeling: a predominant out-of-place feeling, a "high" similar to but yet quite different from cannabis, and some sweat and uncomfortability, with no detailed visuals; a stage-2 experience, by the S-A-L-V-I-A scale. We urged Jx to break through by smoking more salvia; after 3 more hits, Jx was only at stage 3, and we figured that he was a salvia hardhead, as the 5 massive hits he took SHOULD have sent him FAR beyond 6th level, yet it didn't. Eventually, Jx did not want anymore, and I was starting to get stoned (the indica had slowly crept up on me). I decided that the indica high would serve to make a salvia experience more comfortable and enjoyable, and hopefully more playful and less logical, so I could feel and prepare for the higher levels of salvia a bit before going into it clear-minded. So, I packed a bowl (just 1 hit) of salvia, and took my hit as gutsy as I could, torching the bowl madly while J and the others stared on. Holding in a large hit for as long as I could, I laid back partially to blow the smoke into the fan; yet some action that someone made, some unrememberable gesture, left the group and I laughing. I soon discovered myself laughing terribly hard, busting a gut, and the rest of the group had stopped laughing, but I continued. As a rush of absolute hysteria slammed into me, I thought to myself, "The salvia is kicking in." Then, all in the room blended together. With my head resting sideways on the back of a couch-like chair, the boundaries of the wall behind me disappeared; the edges of the wall lost all structural integrity, and the wall simply melted; nay, blended, in an instant, into nothingness, detaching itself from the room and hovering into an infinite void of blackness behind, where it disappeared, leaving a 5-sided room. Much as in a computer game, where "clipping" occurs when a wall is missing from a game, and the computer screen tends to "burn" itself into the empty wall, my couch-chair and I were streamlined in bars of light, back into the void beyond the missing wall; not pulled in, not sucked in, but almost teleported atom-by-atom, 20 feet back into the void, as if from a Megaman game, though never truly moving through the physical universe, instead, as if space-time warped around me, and distorted the distance between my friends and I; from a universal perspective, I was still in the room, but from my perspective, I was 50 or so feet in the void. I was then surrounded by lights; lights that I percieved existed in actuality, but they revolved around me, leaving Akira-style afterimages; trails of vivid but diminishing light that marked where the lights had just been. In the void, I experienced things that I cannot remember completely; vague flashes of cars, of clouds, geometric patterns, spacial shapes (spheres and cubes and such), tiki heads, and various other shapes of detailed as well as simple complexion continue to flash into my head as I remember them, even now. Suddenly, my brain ordered my eyes to open, and open they did. Suddenly, I was back in the room, with an intense mentally stoned feeling, sitting on the couch-chair and my upper body facing the opposite direction, twisted so my head was resting the other way. From here on out, I was able to control my state; I know I was at stage 4 on the S-A-L-V-I-A scale from this point on, based on research and descriptions from other people. When my eyes were open, I had a mentally stoned feeling, and a large lack of coordination, almost an inability to control my body, and I rolled around in distorted, jagged comfort (sounds funny, doesn't it?) on my couch-chair. When my eyes were closed, I was again transported to the void-world, with similar phenomena (but different actual effects each time). I found that I was able to open and close my eyes whenever I chose, and I repeatedly opened and closed them for half-minutes at a time. I'll spare some details for this part of the trip, due to the fact that I can remember only a few things from within the void. After about 15 minutes, I was oddly still in stage 4, able to be ripped into the void-world, though the connection was fleeting. I remember being covered in acid-slime-snow at one point, but not feeling any pain. Then, I sat up in my chair, and I turned around and stared at the window. Suddenly, a cold breeze floated into the room, encircling itself around everyone, as if to capture attention, as if announcing some important event; the coming of something, of someone. And then, in the pitch black of the night, an odd, spiritual presence loomed over the window; I knew that with my eyes open, I could not see it, but I DID see it. Words cannot describe the feeling; it was as if I saw it with a third eye; my real-world eyes detected nothing, but yet there was a large, *green* presence outside the window, and the presence sent in sticky green pseudopods (as from an amoeba), grabbing everyone in the room, including myself, not pulling, but merely touching, as if we served as a navigational tool. Suddenly, I was compelled to be sober for just a few seconds, where my senses returned to me for one purpose: to slink to the ground, face the window, and bow as low as I could. I came to understand through spiritual vibrations that the being outside the window was Lady Sally, and yet, the words "Lady Sally" do not accurately describe Her. Rather, the title "Mother Salvia" is more accurate. And I bowed, though I got the feeling that the bow was unneccessary and trivial, and even unappreciated by Her. Then, the sticky green pseudopods nudged me back onto my chair, and into a relaxed, laid-back position, and they sort of ... took the shape of a pair of spiritual hands, which rested on my shoulders, with a soothing massage, and I was struck with the feeling of a satisfied mother, holding her child (me) there, and I FELT like a little kid again, and wanted to curl up under a nice, warm blanket and fall asleep (some milk and cookies would have been nice ... haha). Unfortunately, this didn't happen; the moment was interrupted by my friends, who had the idea of J and I going back to our dorm rooms. Now, we ended up doing just that, but even 20 minutes into the experience, I percieved myself to be in stage 4, which really suprised me; I could feel the effects dwindling off bit by bit, but very, very slowly. Eventually, after a long, tough walk (trying not to act stoned and tripping at the same time; don't think I did a very good job at that), we made it back, and I lied down on my bed and closed my eyes, and had some pretty crazy visuals, and most of them started to become 2D rather than 3D. Then, I sat up, and realized that I had dropped out of stage 4, and was now in the downgrade. For the next 20 minutes, I slunk into stage 2 and 1, and then finally to just "stoned" from the indica, which lasted for another couple of hours, until I finally went to sleep.
I'd also like to point out ... for those of you who have seen or played the game "Rez" for the Playstation or Dreamcast, the experience was of a similar idea, very "trippy" in that sense, though on more of a logical-thought plane than on a "colours and patterns" plane.
Sounds like a really cool trip. Did anyone else have an experience this intense? Is this any more intense or unique from other salvia trips you've had?
Salvia can definitely have that affect if you smoke enough. So strange that it makes so many people think of a motherly presence. Even among my friends who didn't really know what salvia was, there was agreement about a motherly vibe. Strange little plant.
Aye. I wonder if the salvinorin-A affects a part of the brain near where the motherly/comfort-ish areas are (laughs). It's either that, or there actually IS a motherly presence behind the veil ... that'd be interesting, eh?
Kinda. Didn't last as long, but it was crazy. I was like, sitting on the floor after smoking the salvia (no other drugs tho), and like, I walked out of a door (like a door of perception, kind of) and was walking around on the back of this red monster. A really fucked up one, like nothing I've ever seen before, except it bore a resemblence to that flower in Pink Floyd's The Wall movie, the animated one that kinda looked like a pussy. But there were two of them, a two headed flower-monster, but definitely an animal-like thing, one head where the tail would be, and the body wasn't a normal thing with legs...it can't be described, really, nor do I remember it too well. Then, it turns out the door was one of the mouths on the monster, and I remember it and I were the only things that existed while I was there. I was both afraid of it and totally at peace with it at the time, it was a strange brew of emotions. Then after a while, I just walked across it's back, into it's tail-mouth and then started coming down off the salvia. Like I'd come back to reality just then. Real life symbolism... Mind you I didn't actually move during this experience, it was like it happened on a different plane of existance.
Holy shit man, thats sounds awesome, how long does it take for the trip to kick in after youve actually taken the bong?
After 20 seconds (yes, seconds), you'll likely begin to experience some mild effects. Within 1 to 3 minutes, peak effects kick in, and last somewhere between 5 to 15 minutes (some last even shorter, some may last a little longer; it varies). Then, comedown is usually 20 to 30 minutes or so. Hope this helps. =) Some people report that they are unable to remember exhaling from a second hit. Some people report that they are unable to remember exhaling from a first hit even, though that's much more rare.
When you say comedown, do you mean it in the same way as a pill comedown? like the most horrendous time fo your life, or where the effects are still there but tailling off?
Still there but tailling off. The comedown is usually not a bad thing, and is actually kind of enjoyable, especially after a good trip.
Recovery ... you mean, like ... physical recovery? I could see a person needing time to sort out exactly what just happened, and trying to analyze it all, as salvia is pretty much guaranteed to give you a new perspective on life. =P But physically, no, there's no recovery period that's needed, at least not physically, though I recommend taking at least a week off mentally to just kind of ... sort out some stuff. =)
salvia n weed? weed does NOT effect a strong salvia trip. the only thing that would potentiate sally would be another Tryptamine (shroom's, cid, 4-ho-DiPT, aMT, DMT)
Well, if you look back, I never said that the weed affected the trip in any large way. I just said that I took both of them at the same time, that's all. And quite honestly, I doubt that the weed had much to do with it, if at all. Also, salvinorin-A is not a tryptamine like psylocybin, either.
salvinorin-a not a tryptamine? im not sure about that. its the most powerful tryptamine by weight. (or so i thought)
No, salvinorin-A is not a tryptamine, it is a terpenoid (more specifically, a trans-neoclarodane diterpenoid). http://www.erowid.org/ask/ask.cgi?ID=2936 Regardless, I don't think arguing over what salvinorin-A is or isn't is going to get us anywhere. =P We aren't chemists (or at least I am not) and these terms mean nothing to us (me). Suffice it to say that salvinorin-A is POWERFUL. =P
