if this is the wrong place for this im sorry

A friend sent me this article (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/27826184)
    about kids dying of malnutrition
in Port-au-Prince, Haiti every day now
due to devastating storms that killed their crops and livestock
and as continue reading, the advertisement read
"save on all holiday shopping" at ebay
and it showed Iphones, Ipods, Plasma Screen Tv's, etc

and it immediately broke my heart more
when the article was destined to do all alone
In america we will spend over 450 billion dollars this christmas
and it would only take a the puny budget of 10 billion
to give the entire world clean water access

Make sure to enjoy the holidays
do everything you can to live it up
eat as much as your american bellies can handle
because you will live to see new years
unlike our dear brothers and sisters so close but oh so far away

So i was wondering if anyone knows of any trustworthy foundations that give EVERYTHING to the starving children in other countries who don't have food to eat let along christmas presents. I would like to show people what they could do
and give them a place that they can go and donate after they see something like this and know that their money is going to get to those people

i know about this. i saw a movie, i rented on saturday entitled, 'the agronomist' it is about a man in haiti whom owned radio haiti. he was assassinated, by goons of the haitian governent for, his work to help up left the poor people of haiti. there is a foundation in his name that helps the poor. beside that foundation the best foundation to get funds to the poor is 'mercy corps.

It's a tragedy that the world is a horrid place, when you come off the way you did in your post it sounds like your trying to guilt trip people more than educate them.

Is "The passion of Africa" in pre - production or something?

Oh and it will take more than just money to feed and give fresh water to the entire world, stop trying to over simplify it.

ugh i know there is more to it then just getting them food and water
there should be people fighting either way for them - i dont know what else there is i can do or anyone else can but we should figure something out, if someone hasn't already

not really trying to educate anyone i expected them to know about haiti by now like blackcat said theres a movie about it already
im just telling my opinion on it

i was asking if anyone knew some foundation i could donate to and ask other people to donate too also
people should make SOME attempt to help even if it seems impossible

    guilt trip
maybe but maybe they need a guilt trip its distgusting to see poverty like that and keep celebrating the holidays its like thanking god that we dont have to suffer like them instead of suffering by their sides offering them hope

so what do you suggest that anyone should do?

It is disgusting to see poverty like that, and I probably came off a bit snide. I apologize.

    :) no it's fine
i see you're point, i don't want to upset anyone
people should be celebrating and being grateful for all the good things in life on the holidays, friends and family and everything. In the back of our heads though we all know that there are people other places suffering
and i think that it shouldn't be in the back of our heads
we should know, be heart broken
    and do something about it
thats all ive been thinking about lately
and i feel like im just wasting my days thinking instead of taking action :(

i just need some direction from people that know what there is I can do

i just got an idea though, maybe i can sell all my books
    and give that money
    i dont need them
    i never read them
thats what the library is for

It's religion and holidays that allow this kind of suffering to continue on in the world.

It's the idiotic belief in one way or another that their is some kind of after life that start's almost all war's through paranoia in one form or another.

Religion is the last ditch effort of a dictator to gain back control of his people, "Oh you won't listen to me well you'll be sorry after your dead" type of thing.

Africa is being destroyed by Aid's as I know you already know, But why is it that Africa in particular is so ravaged while the rest of the world seems to be able to at least contain the virus?

Well because Christian fundamentalist's told the naive African people that if they used any contraceptives they would burn in hell forever.

That includes condom's, so while any democratic science was trying to take root there you have Jerry Falwell and his ilk shouting Aids is better than condoms.

Any quarrel about religious bigotry that end's in death proves the point that the existence in the super natural is hypocritical and will only be believed by cowards who can't accept that death mean's goodbye.

I'll summarize, that child in your picture was killed by neglect brought on by religious bigotry.

If you are truthfully looking for way's to help prevent atrocities like this from happening admit to yourself right now that religion is the great divider in the world and the BELIEF in the supernatural causes scenes of death like the one you posted.

"Aids is better than condoms' -Jerry Falwell to a group of African converts.

Hundreds will die from Aids in Africa before you go to sleep tonight because of cowards and charlatans who get rich off the suffering of others in the name of gods they themselves don't even believe in.

That is why all the money in the world won't solve this problem only education and the elimination of religion will.

Yeah you can, donate to reputable non faith based organizations.

You will probably be better off doing the research for yourself.

    I'd start with google. ;)
