I totally agree with you. I was born in '92. i feel as if i was born in the wrong era. I wish i coulda been around back then. I'm not really down with most of my generation. i dislike most technological advances. I love music from that time. I wish i could have driven my '67 VW bus to san francisco than up to New York for woodstock. So i'll toast to that. :cheers2:
I think I was born at the right time, the present strongly needs people who are willing to make a difference, even if only a small one. Sure, we missed Woodstock and all that fun, but it's up to us to make our lives worth living, not to the age we where born in. Look at it this way: if we work hard enough, in thirty years some kids might be saying "oh, I was born in the wrong time, I wish I had been born in the 90's"
I'm glad to know there's other people like me Once I'm in college I'll probably meet more people like this...it's tough for me 'cause I'm actually homeschooled ...and the real school nearby me is awful
Actually...I REALLY HAD A MISTAKE WITH THE YEAR!!! WHY, GOD, TELL ME WHY I WAS BORN IN 1992 INSTEAD OF 1942 OR SOMETHING!!??? I think that 60's were the best decade from the last century (and it stills being better over the actual world) I mean...music was better, dressing, hair styles...EVERYTHING! And now...you go out and what do you see? Rappers, emos...:toetap05: Definitely it sucks. My theory: I was there in the 60's, but I suicided when John Lennon died and came back 12 years later
My theory is that we are all reincarnations of hippie flower-children of the late sixties. We've been reincarnated now so that we can make the world a better place for the future generations. We were probably put in this era because of how fucked up it is. Seriously, I know that sounds far out and weird but I truly in my heart believe it. Our world needs help right now and we're the people to do it. When I watch videos of teens in the sixties dancing on the fields with eachother it makes me feel something so strange, like I was there. It feels like home to me. And it's odd 'cause like I said, I'm just a teenage girl living in the middle of nowhere.
I totally know what you mean man. I totally feel like I was born in the wrong decade, the wrong place, the wrong life. Nowadays all you see on the streets are Wannabe Cholos, Gangsters, Emos, and Materialistic Kids. What happened to the peace? Everybody wears shirts with peace signs and necklaces and stuff, but only because its a fad. They don't actually wear them because they want peace. Nobody in my school is like me, nobody actually wants to fight the man and stand up for everything that needs fixin. This generation needs alteration and we are the ones who need to change it. I'm only 14, but we can come together & start a protest. Much Peace, Chelsea
I agree completely- I wish I was born in the sixties too!! It just isn't fair! I want to go to Vietnam and shoot up whole villages of VC... or join the police and beat up hundreds of hippies at once... or sell hard drugs to naive high school kids looking for a groovy experience... after I take their virginity of course. I agree, this generation sucks.
man, i am totally with yah i'm 15 and my dads a hippy and i consider myself a 2end generation hippy but i would give up everything to live then. i have liek a connection with that era like i was there but im not. i love the music, writing, fashion, art, drug everything and none of my friends understand but it would have been wonderfull so sad its over but beings a hippy isnt Long Live The Peace, Love And Weed<3 * and to the guy above my post man not cool
Finally I've found others like me! I was born in '93 and I don't think I belong here!!!!!I'm lucky cause my dad is a musician who follows the beliefs of the hippies and he really inspired my love for peace and rock&roll. My mom's also really cool and let's me do my own thing, so taht helped me to discover who I really am. When I was younger I was totally lost but as I got older people started telling me I'm like a hippie. So I started yoga and from there on discovered that i am meant to be hippie. It feels like I finally know what my purpose on earth is. Of course everyone at my school thinks I'm a weird optimist cause theres only like a total of 2 hippies in a school of 1200! But hey thats part of the fun, being unique! And although I feel like I was born 50 years to late I've decided to make the best of it by spreading the message of peace and love to everyone I meet! We can all make a difference no matter how small, together we'll change the world!! Oh by the way I read about this gathering of hippies in America called The Rainbow Family, every year in the first week of July they come together and meditate, pray and observe in silence to achieve world peace. Maybe you should check it out. Just know you're not alone!!!!
Yeah, 247hippie, I've heard of the Rainbow Family. I might check them out when I'm an adult (3 more years!) because my parents are liberal...but not very hippie-like. I love 'em but they're not exactly like me that way. It's great to see other teens like me. Thanks all of you for showing me I'm not alone!
yea i feel the same it makes me want hug like everybody when i see something the 60's its like i cant control myself
I'm going to be 15 soon, and I feel exactly the same way. The 60s were a free decade where people were free to express themselves and let's face it, most of the best music was composed at that time but I think that if we want to change the world, there's no "wrong" decade, just wrong circumstances, like now. But if we want to change, there's nothing that can stop us!
yep i feel kinda like that. im 15 too, but i dont know about wanting to go back in time but i do wish i wasnt in one of the most conservative states in the country. i also go to a school with forced prayer where they kick you out if your gay. thats why i joined this forum, just to talk to people who actually think for themselves. but this generation isnt all bad, there are still people out protesting and smoking weed keeping pressure on the government. if you havent heard about stealthiswiki.org, definitly check that out, its just abbie hoffman's steal this book except for our generation. so dont get to down on our generation man, just try to radicalize people now, and maybe another 60s can happen
I would give ANYTHING in the world to have been part of the flower-child generation. Do the next-best thing ... become a new generation of flower children Take the best of the 60's and carry it forward. Take the worst of the 60's and leave it behind. To freexspirit29 and the rest who have posted ... I think you guys are in a better position to change the world now than the original hippies were, and I wish all of you the best. You guys are just a bit younger than my kids ... they're 19 ... I wish I could be a flower child with you ..
