I agree. Such subcultures you speak of include hipsters, goths, hippies and jews.

 

Don't forget pirates, vikings, skaters, and lawyers.

 

I understand them somewhat. I have a little hick in meh, I love hiking and camping, guns and beer, but they are a little to violent and ignorant for me.

just, to step in on behalf of my people, I am a redneck, have a couch outside, have fired more guns than I can easily remember, and think it'd be really fucking awesome to build a ballista to shoot rebar projectiles bored out and filled with magnesium at an old pickup truck in the middle of the desert.


rednecks are, because society had eliminated for the most part, the need for people to be mechanically ingenious, and creative. and further, has produced a permanant underclass of the people who have these skills

the ignorance is mostly because they're bitter, angry, and stupid, and the last is mostly because it's easier for everyone if rednecks are stupid.

can you imagine someone who can, and does, build a cannon that can shoot a pumpkin 1000 yards gets mad enough at the government to do something?

It is kind of sad when your lawnmower is worth more then your trailer home. But they probably need those big mowers to get around all the junk cars and dead washers in the yard.

I had to deal with lots of rednecks most of them aren’t that bad if that aren’t doing meth which seems to be quite popular with rednecks these days. :-/

 

they're not necessarily worried about the showiness of a home, rather the land it's on and the freedom to fuck around with lawn mowers and have some good clean fun.
