We are probably moving to the Fort Collins area and are wondering if anyone knows anything about RV living in the area? We don't do it now, but are thinking about it...
I spent a summer living in the Larimer county parks about 10 years ago. They are a group of lakes owned by the county that you can park RVs or tents. http://www.co.larimer.co.us/PARKS/permits.htm Back then you could pay $60 and get a year pass but now it is a lot more last time I checked (years ago) you had to buy a pass and then still pay nightly fees which end at 12:00 midnight so to stay 1 night you pay for 2 days. They are nice lakes you were only allowed to stay so many nights so I rotated around the different lakes. On the weekdays they were mellow peaceful and the weekends were packed full so I would just camp on the weekdays. They have a bunch of little rent-a-cops that patrol the county parks that are fuckheads and harass a lot of people. Be careful about city camping in the city of Ft Collins the police are not that cool.
Fort Collins is an awesome area. I don't know much about R.V. stuff in the area. I lived in a van around Ft. Collins for about a year a while back. I had some favorite spots a little ways up Poudre Canyon, around Horsetooth Reservoir, and also a little ways south west around Carter Lake. The only R.V. camping place I've noticed was a little ways out of town. There is a KOA at the US 287 / CO 14(Poudre Canyon) intersection North of town.
