My baby is two weeks old. When she was born, her right eye was slighty watery and would get those little crusties, but it was no biggie. Just a normal thing. But now her eye is swollen, pink, and gunky, with yellow gunk all over. I was surprised she could open her eye. She goes to see the doctor tomorrow but I was wondering if anyone had any ideas what it is. Her left eye is the complete opposite, and doesn't water up at all.

I think that too. I've had it twice and that's what it sounds like.

yeah. when she wakes up in the morning are her eyes like.. crusted shut? thats usually a pretty good indicator shes got it.

good thing you made a doctors appointment though. if shes had it for two weeks then shes probably in alot of pain. i don't know if pink eye can really cause damage, but its a good thing you're getting her checked out. also, its contagious, and i woudln't want you to get pink eye and then be rubbing and scratching it and then toughing your baby, you'd give it right back to her! if you're eye gets pink and swollen, make sure you get to a doctor right away, and wash your hands everytime you touch your eye and everytime before touching your baby or preparing food, changing a diper etc.

squirt breastmilk in her eye. It's the best, and quickest, and safest way to get rid of the gunky newborn eyes. :)

don't no what pink eye is , but it sounds like your baby has got conjunctivitis, ur doc should give her some drops to clear it up.

pink eye is conjunctivitis-and breast milk is much cheaper than the drops a dr. will give you!
