Cleaning the microwave

sucks...
I put a huge bowl of water with some lemon slices in it and am putting it in there for 30 minutes...I hope all the grimey gross stuf just wipes off with a paper towel afterwards...it's worked int he past...but we've let it go so long.

 

just buy a new microwave

Yeah,we did that the other night.I let my daughter make a "potion". I gave her a bowl, a little bit of baking soda, a little bit of lemon juice,and some food coloring to make it funny.- Then after it bubbled up we put it in the micro for a long time. She thought it was soo cool she gushed about it to her dad when he came home.

It took forever...it was soooo freaking gross.

 

We really need to clean our microwave... it really grosses me out though.

I kind of killed our old microwave... forgot about the no foil rule.

 

I don't have lemons (remind me after my vacation to get some) but my microwave ain't to bad, but I need to clean my coffee pot more often.

 

you put it on high for about 30 minutes. Afterwards, you put the lemon in the garbage disposal and your sink smells all fresh .

 

You can also use vinegar and water.

Hmm.. I need to try that sometime. I usually just spray our microwave with ecover, that works really well too though. I love ecover

I once made a potato explode in the microwave.... I don't know how

poked holes in it, put it in there for four minutes, and, midway through the cycle, it exploded, inside the microwave, and burning flecks of starch stuck to the walls.....

Also, we purchased a microwave cover thingie at Walmart. you just put it over the top of whatever you are nuking, and it keeps the splatters down. The cover is dishwasher safe, and you reduce your need to deep clean the micro by 300%.

I tend to buy the little microwave cleaning packets - I think they are MR clean. You just put the little pkg in the micro, turn it on for 1 min - the little bag pops open and the lemony scent steams the inside of the microwave - and the heated cloth makes wiping stuff up easier, too.
