Djembe

    Any tips for a beginner trying to learn to play a djembe? :)

    drum circles.. the more you can attend the better.. you can literally feel the rhythm of the other drums and it helps you pick up how to play different rhythms.. also.. i find it hit notes more solid when my hands are slightly cupped... other than that.. just play to your own beat..

    oh there was one website i used to learn some rhythms,, it would play them and chart the hits for you.. just try typing djembe rhythm in google

    I love the djembe. I took an african drumming class in college. Before you do anything I would learn the 3 basic sounds (bass, tone, and slap) and learn how to make each one of these sounds. And like joker man said there are tons of resourses online i'm sure. Good luck!
