I have a friend who's trying to get dreads. Everyone's saying he's stupid and needs to forget that dream. I think Whitey Dreads are pretty cool. What do you think?
i'm sure that's not his intent, but it does come off that way. personally, i could care less the color of the person wearing their dreads. If they look nice, they look nice, it's really that simple.
I dealt with that in the beginning. If he is secure enough with himself, there is no reason for him to care what others think. They are the stupid ones for being so closed minded.
Really hot! But then I am a white guy... I am telling you, this hair is KRYPTONITE to the bitch deflector. Even chicks that might think it's gross are secretly attracted to the animal magnetism if you keep 'em clean!!!
tis funny, cus ANY humans hair will dread up if not brushed! tell your friend to do what makes him happy, especially if it's not hurting anyone.
if you're friend isn't secure enough with his image that he can't do something with himself that may make him look "unattractive" then he isn't ready for locks, at least not for the long run. for one, locks have a lot of history and a lot of controversy behind them. most of us here know that it is simply the natural way hair forms over time, but a lot of the public doesn't. by the information you provide in the first post, it looks like people in his community are already ready to voice their opinion (helpful, or not) on something they know little about. now imagine he has the locks on his head and how much people will talk. i think anyone who wants locks should get them, but they should understand what they are putting themselves into before hand. it sounds like he is asking around for approval, but not getting any. your friend needs to learn to let go of the chains that society creates to bind him to the norms of your community. locks are a big change, a long change and everyone can see this change. if for any reason you dont want people to see you change it can be very hard to hide it. the point is to be secure enough that you would never want to hide your locks. they can get messy, untidy and frustrating, and although we with locks know that these impurities are things that we manifest in our minds, not everyone does. it can be stressful to someone who isn't fully ready for a locking journey. so the bottom line. locks are beautiful, on anyone your friend should be ready with people talking about his locks for a long time, good things and bad your friend should be ready to let a process happen that he has no control over. the key word here is let, because we dont make locks, hair makes locks. as for your question, do you think anyone is going to talk negatively about locks here? ha ha ha
completely 100% agree, and i think ure friend would look better if he's confident about his dreads, i notice a certain pride and joy just radiating from my friends and even strangers with dreads, it sucks big time if he's gonna let what other people think dictate the way he feels, that is just a big no-no
Yeah I noticed this too. I am on half-a-dozen motorcycle forums (as well as some others), and it would like like posting a poll there asking: "Are motorcycles cool? VOTE NOW!!!" Hahahahahaha
Indeed! And Arizona is the bomb. If you're into the desert, you're gonna love that place. The desert is ultimate beauty IMO. The summer heat will prohibit high temp riding (tires), but man, I love AZ.
