Its funny, I was always somewhat open minded about the claims against CoS. But after learning about Anon and seeing how CoS responds to protesters, everything about CoS screams cult.

Scientology the church version is pretty much a cult, with some mainstream trappings. Most members who are not employed by the church though, are pretty much middle class suburban types....so it does not fully fit the description.

Tactics? If you mean hiring Private investigators to find out who the masked people are who says we kill people? Yes. And basically ignoring them otherwise and not arguing with them about things they have little understanding of? Yes. And collecting information over the long term so that at some point our lawyers can get a gang injuction type restraint against them so that they have less ability to be disruptive? Yes.

They matter because they taunt members with offensive material, spread inaccuracies about our beliefs and practices and generally have too much fun doing it.

They really dont matter, but they sure are inconvenient.

What makes a group of people a gang? Continuity of association, shared purpose, usually destructive or disruptive.

They cost the church millions of dollars with their attacks, (the ddos attack) they fax goatse to our churchs...they basically slander us from behind masks...

 

people have been doing that to christianity since it's inception, I dunno, I haven't heard of any imperial court parties being lit by scientologists being burnt at the stake, ever.
